The anti-holiday thread

not religious holidays but the days dedicated to mothers-fathers are actually being clumped into consumerism. you've gone a bit too far involving religious holidays in this.

and you're getting yourself one hell of a reputation here. good luck with it (Y)

I agree but at the same time I hate people like you who say **** just to get a reaction out of people and think they're cool because they're so nonconformist.

Yeah the Holiday season has become spoiled by the consumerist craze but you can't do anything about it so stop being a pretentious, miserable cunt and get over it.

He's a troll. His days here are few. He's just gonna push things a little more than he should at some point, making those in charge do what everyone else wants, if he hasn't already that is.
A troll, quite possibly... also pissed because he's been banned already from here before.

Rob can eat a dick. I'm getting drunk with my friends tonight; hopefully we'll burn down an outdoor "holiday tree" because we're drunk and stupid.

So, go and buy your liquor

The purpose of this thread is not to be a little ****-disturber but rather just to see if anybody else here shares my view when I say I hate the holiday season. It's not much of my atheistic sentiment, but rather one of anti-capitalism. I'm not here to impede on anybody celebrating Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, Eid or whatever bum**** religious holiday; in fact I'm vexed by the fact that they're grouped by the capitalist society piggybacking on the group of the holidays ("Happy Holidays!" on Christmas day) for an economic boost (besides the fact that Christmas is piggybacked on the pagan holiday to entice converts) and I support the resistance by religious writers trying to bring back the holiday from the PC-police. But anyway, screw the holidays. Merry Christmas if you're celebrating it, and an especial amount of respect if you made your present(s) this year.

Discuss the holidays being clumped into consumerism

(And if you're not celebrating anything like me here, this Grolsch is for you /lifts glass)

I actually agree and that's why whenever someone asks me what I want for Christmas...I simply say: nothing/I don't care, 'cause really....I just don't give a sh!t. On the other hand I still get presents, and enjoy giving them, so it's not that big of a deal.¨:D

I'm not a religious Catholic, but I do believe that Jesus actually existed. Really, if someone like him HAS NOT existed, then there's not much hope left for the cu*tness we call "mankind" is there? If I were a religious one I'd be down right offended by some of the stuff that goes on during these holidays. For example I heard that this bar I enjoy going to has actually raised the prices for a pint from 30 to 44DKK. Why? "Christmas-prices". What the fu*k is up with that? :| And that's just one small example.

But Marry Christmas anyways, you bloody infidel. (H)

King I love you, and want to make sweet little Hindu-Slavic babies with you. :( (Quite a change from the days I thought you were an annoying Hindu random/n00b, eh?...)

You still are.

Christmas is great. I got a check for $500 from my aunt (which is like a month's rent, which is HUGE for me) who lost her only son to cancer and is divorced from her husband. It was accompanied by a tearful letter about how I was her son's idol and how his affection for me was passed on to her. But she didn't want to embarrass me, so she wrote it in the Christmas card. Boy, I hate this holiday, I just never want to know emotions like that from my family.

Honestly, I don't believe in any sort of Christian related God but I enjoy Christmas. Big ******* deal. We're humans, we're consumers--deal with it.

The relevance to this thread astounds me. I'll give it a few for it to wear off.

It didn't. God, dude, are you in love with him or something, that you had to post it in a totally random, unrelated thread?

What exactly is wrong with Christmas being all about consumerism? It's good for the economy, it's good for national morale and it drives legions of the great unwashed into humungous debt which keeps them down and depressed and allows me and my dandy upper class friends to run amok and do as we please and continue our stranglehold over public office and positions of power.
