I can't believe our first official match is on Thursday. This has to be the shortest summer break in the history of the club when it comes to time between the last official match and the first one in the new season.

If we get past Ujpest we're gonna play in the 3rd qualifying round against the winner from the Falkirk FC (Scotland) and FC Vaduz (Liechtenstein, they play in the Swiss league though). We really have quite an easy road to the groups, we just have to focus and get the job done because we ARE clearly superior to these clubs and the fact that we're seeded in each draw is definitely helping us quite a bit.

Thx for that info. Any idea about the teams we might face afterwards?

I didn't go to the match on Saturday, the rain scared me actually :). You never know when it will start pouring these days :(.

Was Grzelak that good? I ve seen Onicas's shot from outside, it seemed ok but I can't judge a player based on only one shot, as they do in the Romanian press. How about Bibiskov? Toja seemed more concerned about bamboo girls, right? :D

The rain scared me to. I wasn't going to go, though I bought the tickets, but I went. I left home about 7 PM, just cause it wasn't raining so hard. The traffic was surprisingly light. I was at Ghencea at about 7:45.

Grzelak was pretty good. He showed some good technique, and a good disposition to effort.

Onicas seems to have a bright future here with us.

Bibishkov barely touched the ball 2 times.

Toja held the ball to much in my opinion, but his technique was good as always.

Another player I liked: Ochirosii seems to be better than usual. I really liked his dribbling abilities.

So it seems pretty much set in stone that this will be our line-up on Thursday:

------------Tatarusanu------------

Golanski--Goian--Ghionea--Marin

Szekely--Onicas--Toja--Ochirosii

------Kapetanos----Surdu-------

Onicas really developed lately after spending some time around the first team, hopefully he will turn out good. I'd obviously rather have a young romanian player from our 'academy' than spend money on someone who we don't know and might not adapt. though Tiago should have been kept imo, 300k is a bargain for the player he is.

looks like we've signed Miguel Tininho, 28yo Portuguese left-back, free agent. played for Beira-Mar, West Bromwich and Belenenses most recently.

A WBA reject is our new left back! Awesome!

Meh who knows, maybe he'll pan out and he has a lot of experience playing in a pretty strong league in Portugal. Any Portuguese on here know anything about him?

Tininho is brazilian, not portuguese.
Pacy LB with good techique, likes to attack a lot.
He's pretty good at the one-on-one and crosses well enough...he's just not the greatest defender, but should be a good addition for you guys.

F*ck! Golanski is suspended so we're pretty much clueless at RB. I would start Baciu if I were Bergodi, I trust him more than anybody else.

Kapetanos might be unavailable too, since he's currently out of contract. hopefully he'll extend it today.

well he signed for a year last summer and when presented the new offer, which was actually half of his current contract, he obviously rejected it and nothing changed after that.

Very good news!

BTW the draw for the 3rd round is this Friday so what I said earlier about us playing Vaduz or that other team if we win was false. We'll know Friday who our next opponent will be if we get past Ujpest. The good news is we're the 4th best ranked team out of the seeded sides. Only Roma, PSV and Hamburg are above us.

Looks like there are gonna be about 21,000 fans in the stands tomorrow night according to the ticket sales reported on GSP (18,000 regular tickets sold and 2,500 season tickets). That's not bad at all considering the round of qualifying we are in. It seems like the fans are very eager to see what this Bergodi coached team will look like in an official match.

HAI STEAUA!

we'll win the match, though I'm really scared of the post-match incidents between fans. after all, Ujpest is from Hungary.

Kapetanos, you retarded imbecile.

Poor first half, I see more of what I saw last season. This is not a good sign.

MUCH better second half. The introduction of Stancu was a very inspired one from Bergodi because it brought the speed in attack we lacked in the first half. Stancu, Surdu and Szekely are quite a trio of speed and skill up front. He will be in the starting line-up in the second leg since Kapetanos is suspended.

I'm happy we started the season off on the right foot!
