Smoking

Yeah, it's probably a good thing. Although I'm sure when (if) I get to like 70 I'll be smoking because I won't give a fuck.

Those whose word I trust swear by Cohibas (the proper cuban ones not that junk they sell here). I should also mentioned that you should make sure you're getting Habanos' produced cigar and not some fraud that stole the name.

I don't smoke cigarettes but I don't really mind the smell in fact I kind of like it. My ex loves Newports and I hated their scent.

I actually get a bit nauseous from smoking cigarettes.

I LOVE the smell of tobacco before it's on fire. It's great. But once it's burning, it's horrible.

Maybe it's an Australian thing - I think people smoke much less here than they do in Europe and South America. Though I hear the USA is similar to us in that respect.

I also hate the smell getting in my hair and clothes.

The annoying part in Australia now, is that it's banned inside, and so outside EVERYWHERE there (esp. at pubs clubs etc) the air is just saturated in smoke.

I'm allergic to some of the shit of the cigarette, whenever I breath that smoke, my throat closes immediately and I start coughing...

I don't, but I wish I did. Cigarettes I mean. Because they are cool. Cigars I don't care about, I'm not Fidel Castro.

I'm the opposite. I'm repulsed by cigarettes but I find cigars to be cool. Not the blunts though.

Anyway, I don't ever smoke cigarettes but weed would be the only thing I'd smoke. I really don't anymore, but if it wasn't illegal I'd do it very often. It makes everything better.

Out of interest, why would you do it more of it legal?

I certainly wouldn't do it any more. I can do it whenever I want now really. Perhaps the only difference for me would be relaxing in public with it more often. At a park, or coffeeshop like in Amsterdam.

The cafes of Amsterdam are an experience to behold. Just remember that weed is decriminalised, not legal. If you go out on the streets and start smoking joints you can still get arrested.

I hope you don't end up like this by age 70.

Cohiba's dont do it for me, neither do Romeo y Julietta. Everyone seems to have a massive preference for one of the big three (those two and Montecristo), I dont know if it's just that different people have different tastes or that everyone who doesnt prefer Montecristo is wrong.

I would be curious to know if anyone (Americans?) have smoked quality cigars from somewhere other that Cuba, I never have and would like to know if they are as awful as I imagine?

Yeah, they're tightening up, they also can no longer sell alcohol at the same establishment as marijuana and it's not even legal to smoke joints rolled with tobacco in coffee shops now - funny how the general world trend (in the west) tends to be towards liberalization whereas in the mecca of mary jane they are doing the opposite.

Never even tried. I've smoked a cigar once.

Anybody here familiar with snus? It's pretty common in Finland, as Sweden is the original country, and actually the only one in EU where you can sell it, I think. I've used it when drunk like 5 times in the last 6 months or so. The last time I did, I was offered some that was a bit stronger than normal, and I got all pale and feeling like I had a fever for 30 minutes.

The U.S. brands are definitely awful, I tried those. My uncle says that Nicaraguans are the closest to Cubans won't be surprised to hear people say them mainly because their more accesible.

Not worth putting myself in harm's way and risk getting a drug charge. Not to mention I've never actually directly purchased it. I've mostly smoked with friends, which I don't really talk to anymore. I guess I'm lazy and a bit skittish.

They sell Honduran Davidoff's in the cigar shops here so some people must choose to buy them over the Cubans but I heard they are just designed to be as close as possible to Cohibas and Davidoffs do the best because they are the closest imitations.

By the way did you know it is illegal for American citizens to smoke a cuban cigar ANYWHERE in the world? :D

Or rum!

One of my favorite stories of the original embargo was how JFK got 1,000 H. Upmanns before authorizing the embargo.

It's funny cause its true! Only people that I know personally, who have lasted are those who have tattoos. I considered myself a straight edge for two years. After that I started smoking a lot now I quit but I still have carvings. It's not physical addiction, just attachment, memories and shit :(
