lol you're right, even Peixoto can do better than Duda. And ffs it's Peixoto, that's saying a lot.

I also think we're not going far in the WC, Queer Arse is a lousy coach, maybe he is a good assistant manager but he doesn't have some skills and abilities to be the NT coach, especially when it comes to leadership and motivating the players.

Many of his choices are very strange, let's put it that way. Ronaldo as captain is a complete joke, Duda, Eduardo, Rolando, I'd call up Daniel Carriço upfront of Rolando, he's like the savior of Sporting's defense.

It does bother me that when he goes to the stadium to observe the players, instead of going in disguise or not wanting to draw much attention on him, as it should be, he seats right in the side of that club's president, be it Pdc or Lfv or whoever. You can tell something is not right there.

Sorry about the off-topic.

Concerning Benfica, Liverpool won 3-0 against Sunderland with Torres scoring twice.

It's quite obvious but him and Gerrard are the players we need to be more alert about. I'm sure JJ is well aware of it though.

Between Duda and him... Of course that there are better options, but the question here its if Duda is called up for the NT, why Coentrão isnt? He's doing a great job and he could do other positions on the front. Even Peixoto man, its the same case.

EDIT: At first i didnt like when Jesus put Coentrao at LB, he was/is a great attacking player, but he's making a great evolution at LB, he's young and if he continues to evolve like this, maybe we'll get a great LB. But i prefer him in his original position.

Liverpool won today, its gonna be difficult. xD

Coentrão as a left-back for the NT? Seriously?

Yep seriously, or do you want another brazilian in the Portugal NT, im so sick of that, recently was the Flamengo GK if im not mistaken.

We only have 1 LB that its Duda, with Coentrao or Peixoto we could use them in more positions.

And about Rolando i agree, Carriço could do it, and yes Ronaldo cant be Portugal NT captain.

About Benfica, we all know that Liverpool will be hard, we know that the rest of the season will be tough, still i want more the championship than Europa League, if we can get both its excelent

We must be carefull with Torres and Gerrard

Hope that he can gain more muscle and some defensive instruction. AND that he dont forget about how to attack.

Ok enough of Portugal NT

Against Liverpool i would play with

Quim

Maxi Luisão David Luiz Coentrão

Javi Garcia

Ramires Di Maria

Aimar

Cardozo Kardec

I think that Saviola its extremelly tired and it would be a good a rest to him, about Aimar being at the lineup its only a feeling, but Martins its also been great now, but like i said before it will be a tough match, and the priority its the championship

Good article concerning Fábio Coentrão.

You're right, it seems Aimar will be the starter. He also knows Benitez so that may be another reason supporting that decision.

About Saviola I agree but JJ has stated his importance on the team even on the off the ball movements, so he'll probably play. I hope he doesn't get injured though..

Tomorrows the game against Liverpool, my line-up would be:

Julio Cesar

Maxi Pereira
Luisão
David Luiz
Fábio Coentrão

Javi Garcia
Ramires
Di Maria
Aimar

Saviola
Cardozo

The regular team. I wish they all give their best because it will be difficult. Im not quite sure, but i think if Torres receive a yellow card tomorrow he will be out in the 2nd leg ( Cardozo's the same case too ).

Well, in this Europa League we already beat 2 times Everton with great results. I know they arent the same team, but its always good to our motivation.

FORÇA BENFICA!!!!

So, you complain about Bruno Alves and then to what you did all night long against Torres. Also, how on earth Luisão didn't get sent off whilst Babel did is beyond me. Benfica played well though, good luck for the second leg (Y)

Did you saw any of the matches? Benfica-Porto or Benfica-Liverpool? I hope not.

About Babel, he shouldn't be sent off, I was surprised with the decision, and very surprised that a referee calls two penaltys in an Europe game against a Europe giant. But, apart from that red card, the referee was fair, actually, there's another hand ball and that free-kick inside the area where Cardozo is kicked near the shoulder. But I'm not used to this, actually, portuguese teams aren't used to this. In case of doubt, it's always the other way.

But we totally deserved the win, and we could've easily won by two or three more. Cardozo was a total disgrace in the first half. Let's hope we can keep this personality in the second leg.

Comparing Bruno Alves way to stop players with yesterday is just absurd. About the red card, well... i confess that was strange, but te referee isnt the type that gives a lot of red cards in European competitions so i dont know, maybe he thought that the 2 hands in the face of Luisão as an agressive behavior. Even without Babel out we were attacking and failing great chances in front of the keeper, so we dominated most part of the game and im happy with that. Benfica's problem is their confidence, in this European competitions they get to the field very nervous. The first match against Marseille was the same thing, but the second they played normally. Liverpool was the same. So i must say that im more confident for the 2nd leg than i was in this first one.

Dude I'm not defending Alves, god damn it I hope he leaves Porto this season; and granted, it's two different situations, by I'm just saying I wouldn't be happy if my team did what Benfica did to Torres all night. Am I being biased because it's Benfica? Probably. Am I being biased because I like Torres? Probably. Am I lying? Nevertheless I don't think so, you have to admit it wasn't fair play what Benfica did to the Spanish yesterday.

And Luisão should've seen the direct red for that foul, by I guess the yellow isn't too scandalous. What is though, is that he wasn't sent off with a second yellow for the "fight" with Babel(who also didn't deserve a red card, definitely a yellow)...

It is a shame that you couldn't finish off Liverpool, another goal for you would have made things difficult for them....I hope you guys get to the next round, but as always I guess Liverpool will turn things around at Anfield.....

If we had make more pressure i think we could score another. But our coach began making substitutions to defend that score. Im still thinking of those chances that we waste mostly in the 1st half.

It's not absurd, it's biased.

What's absurd is hearing a Portista ressabiado complain about a refereeing in Europe which was in general fair, and not pending to an English/Spanish team as it usually is.

Like RuiCosta said there was another handball in the box from a Liverpool player and Carragher stepped on Cardozo's shoulder inside the box.

I admit it could be acceptable if Babel wasn't sent off but he did right in front of the ref ffs, and twice, what he was expecting to go away with it? He was kinda dumb to do it if you ask me.
