should maradona step down from coaching argentina?

I heard the rason Higuain doesn't get called up to the national team, had to do with argentinan football investors having a say in who gets called to the NT, now obviously i don't know if its true, its obvious you need a taller 9 striker i mean really teves kun and messi?, and you need to organize your midfield.
i'm gonna say something not a lot of people will like, but Messi is not Maradona and he's not gonna solve the game for you, look at barca, yes he shines but there are so many skilled players around him, and to be honest I think Iniesta is still their best player, not saying Lio is not an important part though.
Havig said that it'd suck if Messi lost a chance to shine at the world cup because Maradona as a coach has been terrible, you cannot have that much talent and not figure out how to win important games.
I love el Diego but as a coach he's right there with Dumbenech

As far as your first comment, I feel Maradona not picking Higuain has mostly to do with favoritism and not picking the best players based on form. Tevez may be a good player, yet has only scored 8 goals in 52 appearances and he still gets picked over him. But then again, it is argentina; so there is the possiblity that there is more to player selection.

I agree the whole team is looking miserable:swear2::swear2::swear2:

1)Veron and Gago are useless, they get lost in the picth, pass the ball away, absolutely no connection from the back line to the front!

2)He needs a big player to partner with messi like milito or higuain, so many long balls lost because no one there to hold the ball up or flick it to messi

3)He needs a player who can connect the passes from defence to attack and control the tempo of the game, only 1 person in argentina right now which is Juan Roman Riquelme

this is what lineup should be:

-----------------Milito----Messi-----------------
--------------------Riquelme--------------------
------------------------------------------------
---------Banega---Mascherano---Lucho----------
-------------------------------------------------
--Papa----Heinze/Demich----Dominguez--Zanetti--
---------------------Romero---------------------

with papa and zanetti working up the wings too

and veron have heart have soul for argentina just have bad game because played injured

mate riquelme never more 2 time retired and all time have problems banegas i like is a very good player with goal but lucho no no no in other time have much chance dominguez cant play more with the seleccion

Most of the madrid fans respect Messi because they see him every week in La Liga so they know how good he is. No player in this world can carry a team after him at the clubs. How someone could do it at the NT either? Messi can't beat a team himself, Ronaldinho couldn't. I can't say anything about the player Maradona since I haven't seen him playing, but I'm sure he couldn't win a match himself.

Messi is by far the best player in the whole world atm, and IMO he is in Top 4-5 in the history.

Oh, and check nano's ava please. ;)

who cares? Pep broke the topic of experience, Pochettino revived a dead team wich only won 2 of 30 matches, in psychological terms is as good as Guardiola.

Yeah but some bastards speak just from what they hear on the forums or in newspapers. If you watch some games of Barça with Messi you'll see what I'm talking about.

Already putting Messi in football's hall of fame is just plain stupid. He hasn't done anything at international area (don't try to rate Olympic medal to high). A player without international success can't be put among the legends such as Zidane or Romario.

Di Stefano and Weah didn't have any international success, I believe, and they're still legends. There are others, too. But Messi definitely isn't in the hall of fame. He's had one great season before which he was just a good dribbler.

Ronaldinho doesn't deserve to be in the HoF, and 20 years from now I doubt anyone would remember him much. Messi could become a legend, but he isn't yet.

Hagi hasn't done anything at the international level, but people remember him as a legend ;)

I've never had this opportunity to watch Di Stefano live, only on some archival tapes. So I can't say is he that much of a legend. For me players become legends at Word Cup and Euro Champs.

Yeah, FC Barcelona fans and Romanians.

no, we dont rate hagi as a legend....

Obviously! He played more games AND scored more goals for Real Madrid......no wonder Barcelona fans don't rate him very highly! If he was given more of a chance, and didn't have to deal with injuries, the Galatasaray Hagi could have been the Barcelona Hagi.

I'd say Galatasaray and Turkish football fans more than Barcelona's. But still,my point stands.

i'll bring my 2 cents on here...

as a brazilian, I can't understand the stupid disrespect maradona has for the argentinian tradition.

argentina always played with the 'enganche' - the key players that connects the defense with the attack. himself was one. we had kempes, maradona...and there's riquelme. riquelme IS a 10. messi wears it. just that. he's LW, fast, skillful...but he won't fill that need, that helpless eager of a true talented, pace controlled, great passer southamerican midfielder. and maradona simply ignores riquelme for the sake of a stupid disagreement.

Dunga changed Brazil because after the big disappointment in WC 2006, he realized, as well as the whole brazilian people that there was a nice bunch of big brazilian stars who felt very confortable on their asses. he cut ronaldo, he cut ronaldinho - merciless and aparently wrecklessly. and finally we have a team. a team, stubborn, focused on winning not on football gimmickery.

i'm pretty sure that if argentina qualifies they'll come to Africa with - as we say here - bloody eyes, hungry for the cup. but still, maradona must bring new blood, fresh will to his team. i can't understand why he dismisses this number 10 enganche Argentina always had - hey Diego, Roman is still alive, remember? - and why he insists with Tevez as a centerforward. he's not a centerforward. he played as a ST or a LW for Corinthians and that was when he showed his striker capability. argentina should start with Messi, Aguero and since Milito is a steaming pile of crap, he should give a chance to the great and injusticed Barrios, now in Dortmund.
