kingmonkey;2286768 said:Stupid idea. Picture this: In leagues all over the world, every time a match starts, both teams let each other score once so that they both ensure they don't finish the game without points. Then, with the score at 1-1, the game really begins...

We're into stoppage time in a 0-0 game between Team A and Team B. All of a sudden, Team A's defenders allow Team B's forward to waltz his way towards the goal and score. Team B returns the favor. Game ends 1-1, and both teams earn a point. It would make a mockery of the game.
HellsideUltras;2286886 said:Well why would the other team want to concede a goal when up by 1 if they could end up winning and get 3points. And thats really sad for football if teams would do that just to earn 1 point. Anyways I see what you guys are trying to say, but also if both teams needed a tie to go through then they would just let each other score once but its still better than wastinig a whole 90min to play a scoreless football so both can advance.
Kibe Kru;2286889 said:If that point meant they both advanced, or that both avoided relegation, I'd be very surprised if it didn't happen.
The problem is not 1-1 or 0-0 though. It's the lack of will to win the match. It'd be as boring to watch a fixed 2-2 as it'd be watching a fixed 0-0.
