I really don't know if I can continue with this match engine. The set pieces are a fucking joke. Last year there were 196 goals conceded from corners in the Premiership, 55% more than real life in 12/13. This year through match day 24, I'm just about even with the entire real life 12/13. Hull have conceded 24 set piece goals in 24 games.

Last year the worst team in the league (QPR) conceded 10 goals from corners all year. In my game, 3 teams (Including me) have already conceded that many. Oh, did I mention that for EVERY GAME I match train on defensive set pieces and apparently it makes no differece... or worse, it actually makes a difference.

A mere 180 corner goals this season, so it was a down year for goal scoring (still WAY above realistic). Luckily, my conceded goals on corners didn't go down as I led the league with 15. 18.4% of the goals came from corners in the league this year, another 6.3% from indirect free kicks, another 2.6% from direct free kicks, and 6.4% from penalties. In total, MORE THAN A THIRD OF THE GOALS were scored from set pieces in the league this year.

I've noticed a lot more goals from set pieces too. It seems like every time a corner or wide freekick is whipped toward a keeper the keeper shits all over himself.

I find that the ball bounces in the box without being cleared constantly. If that happened once or twice a season, and the rest of the corner goals were headers directly into the net I wouldn't have such a problem.

Stuck with this Southampton game.

Year 2 I finished 15th and the Board told me that 10 points from my first 5 games in Year 3, or else I'd get the sack. Well, I got the 10 points and then finished the year at 4th and won the FA Cup! It was a pretty incredible run, most notably because I didn't really have a striker, although youngster Neal Maupay scored some huge goals.

Season 4, I've overhauled the team in my image; two box-to-box types flanking Ward-Prowse as the DLP in the middle of the pitch. Those B2Bs are Garmash and Sissoko, who are both pretty much ideal for the role. On the left I signed Andre Ayew from Chelsea when he was transfer listed for 9.5m, so that was a huge coup.

Alex likes Aussies right? This guy is breaking into my first team this year

So you are playing a DLP in DM and two CM's that are box-to-box? Or is there a difference in their roles?

That's interesting. What is the rest of your formation like?

Finished my 4th season disappointingly in 8th or 9th place in the table; got eliminated on away goals in the CL Quarter Finals by Barcelona, 3-2 at St. Mary's, 1-0 at the Camp Nou. That was also shaping up to be an incredible run, but stupid Messi willed them to 2 goals in my stadium. I actually topped my group which consisted of Juventus, Bayern, and Celtic.

The only major signing I made for this next season is Lucas Ocampos, right winger from Barca, who actually got the goal that dumped me out of the Champions League. I'm promoting a lot of youth; that Aussie, a 17 year old English striker, and now a 19 year old English CM. Not to mention that my fullbacks and DLP are both homegrown as well. I feel like I've achieved something by bringing through so many players and obviously it helps being Southampton.

Through the first 20 games of a Premier League season, I have hit the woodwork 17 times. My opponents have hit the woodwork 3 times. Cool, SI.

Do you get it a lot from corners? Nearly every time my CB gets his head on the ball it crashes off the woodwork.

No not especially, just in the course of the game. Up to 26-6 now through 26 games. I've also found it impossible to score goals in my most recent season for some reason; through 26 games I have scored 22 and conceded 18. Very very frustrating.
