That was Jason Newstead. Probably the more memorable of the 3 Metallica bassists. Although, Rob Trujillo's monkey immitations are getting pretty fun to watch.

For some reason I don't like Trujillo as much as the others but he's still class.. Newsted was great as well, duno how his echobrain project thing turned out but Cliff was by far the best. RIP..
