SG Draft Competition--FM Phase!

The cup was made to interfere the least. I guess fielding a weak squad was a blunder on my part as well because I should have noticed the tinkering problem earlier. The cup is only played once a month and not in the winter; I guess a tired squad once a month is a small price to pay for actually having the squad you want on the pitch.

EDIT: Oh no, I might have just figured it out... And it is stupid if I'm right about this...

Okay, so here's the deal. "Use current tactics" keeps the tactics. "Use current team selection when possible" seems to be some horrible buggy version of "pick who I have picked... or use last week's squad". This is what I'm guessing has happened with all the rotated cup teams, and probably why the problem isn't as pronounced when you change formation. If I untick "use current team selection" the assistant has free reign to field whoever where ever, so that is not a solution. I'm going to do whatever I can to set the formations this week as accurately as possible. I would advise you all to NOT TINKER with rotation on a week to week basis because if you do you might not get your star player(s) back in the lineup when you want them.

In fact, what I'm going to do is set my lineup with my first XI, and leave it that way even if some guys get injured allowing my assistant to just make the best replacement.

Anyway, no update today. I'll wait for you all to tell me what you want to do with your team and restart tomorrow. I shall add a new manager to every team in order to restart the tactics unless you specifically tell me "don't restart my tactics". Since Sir_Didier_Drogba keeps winning and isn't here, I will assume he doesn't want a restart.

I'm actually not positive how the "use current team selection" thing works. Sometimes in my games, FM seems to think "current" doesn't mean the team currently selected, but the last team confirmed.
Another possibility is that you need to select the team, and hit continue, before the changes are "saved" as current. IE. If you just change, then go on holiday, it'll revert

Your "continue" theory scared the crap out of me, but I slept on it and realized that it doesn't work this way. Yesterday I was running all kinds of experiments to get the selection right and I wouldn't have to do that if you were correct because the team would have been set for at least a week.

Just to let the forum in on what's going on, I enlisted in the United States Army and leave for Basic Training next week. So that's what I will be doing this summer.

Just not really satisfied with the career path I chose and wanted a fresh start I guess. It's pretty shallow, but none of the "higher calling" stuff really appeals to me (although all the stuff I thought when I was 10 about patriotism is kind of creeping back in). It's more that all the benefits of being in the army allow me to live the life that I want to live: travel, salary to live comfortable enough, vacation, off the charts level of respect from civilians in the USA (and I can even sell a Tillman-lite story about leaving my life as a lawyer), retirement after 20 years, and the fact that a lot of decisions I hate making on a day to day basis are now made for me. I'm in good physical shape, so none of that stuff is worrying. I wouldn't want to kill anyone, but I could do it.
