I'd probably participate, but I wouldn't run it. Could be interesting, but hard to judge across eras I think.

I would enjoy it and wouldnt even mind running it (a slimline version, 16 participants, squads of 18, EURO 2012 format) but I really dont want to do it til after the FM phase of this is completely finished.

Yeah, maybe, considering it's just voting. Actually probably a better idea cos if it gets to 18 most people wont know enough classic players and too many will be current.

Eleven would be best. It would definitely be more difficult for me because I don't know many of the old timers.

It would be interesting tactically too (as in tactics of your selections, not which formation etc you choose). In history there has been quite a few very good 10s, strikers, and other attacking players, and less legendary defenders.

Would be hard to judge though, judging between eras is notoriously difficult. If it's based on them all playing together now, as they were at their peaks, most modern players would flog past players just because of technology, fitness etc. But of it's based on their dominance of their era, and what they brought to the game it is fairer, but that doesn't necessarily account for weak eras etc

Yup, Maradona and Pele at the exact same fitness levels wouldn't be greats if they were transported to 2013. Players barely ran during games back then and weren't expected to contribute to the whole game, only their phase.

Yep, and not just fitness levels, but analysing players, strategies etc etc

But on the flip side, how good would they have been with access to that technology??
