Scolari renews his contract with the Portuguese FA

Luiz Felipe Scolari have signed a new contract with the FPF today. the new deal expires after the Euro2008. According to the press today he rejected an offer to take charge of the brazilian NT because his wife don't want to return to Brazil.

Tudo acertado entre Federação e Luiz Felipe Scolari. O técnico brasileiro vai ficar mais dois anos no comando da Selecção Nacional, ou seja até 31 de Julho de 2008.

A renovação de contrato foi selada esta sexta-feira em reunião extraordinária da Direcção da FPF, que entendeu ainda registar com agrado o comportamento de Luiz Felipe Scolari ao longo de todo o processo.

No comando da Selecção portuguesa desde 2003, depois de ter conduzido o Brasil ao título de campeão mundial, Scolari obteve a melhor sequência de resultados para Portugal, destacando-se a presença na final do Euro-2004 (organizado no nosso País) e o recente quarto lugar no Mundial-2006.

He is a great manager...only has one problem. As every manager he is confident on his players, but sometimes he goes over-confident. Pauleta, Postiga, Costinha...are just plain weird options, and didn't work...we saw it in World Cup 2006 and we managed a 4th place. Now imagine if Nuno Gomes or a striker Henry-class would play in front...

Still, I wanted him to stay. Euro 2008 is in sight. Good luck to Scolari.

he didn't want to return to Brazil because his son still has 2 more years of skool left to finish and he doesn't want to change skool. So I'm guessing he is going bak to Brazil after Euro2008 taking in account how the new Brazil coach will be performing in 2 years...

what tells you that if someone else came to replace him, that person would start a losing streak for our NT?
I've said this a sh'tload of times already, I strongly believe that another coach would have done as well or better than Scolari given the players we have available.
and that person would most certainly not start Pauleta in every match, or even take f'cking Postiga to Germany.
and if he did, I'd hate his guts as much as hate Scumlari's.
