brazlian gens my arse... - the fanzy tricks maybe - but being a brazlian doesn't mean you're quality.... there are plenty of sh*t playing brazilians playing in europe too.

I agree... there are many brazilian players that are crap... but the brazilians, in general, are the most talented footballers in World... like it or not!

Non the less Rooney is class as is Ronaldinho

We share the same opinion here... :jap:

and I'm sure we could go endless to argue who's better...

let's just leave it and rather enjoy whenever such players play.

It could eventually turn out to be an endless discussion, but... that wouldn't change the reality of the facts... :)

For instance, the discussion about who's the Best Player of All-Time is becoming endless, bcoz some people just can't accept the fact that Pelé is the best footballer the World has ever seen... and they never will!

But, the truth is there for people who want to see it... for those who don't... well, keep arguing... and people like me, will keep bashing and arguing back! :ewan: :)

BTW: I don't support the Brazilian NT... i really don't want them to win the WC... but i do accept that they have got the most powerfull team of them all! So... i'm not really speaking in a biased point of view! :)

If Rooney were Brazilian he would be the world's best player.

Many would say that, Rooney is overrated and overhyped, just because he is english...

I wouldn't agree with them... and i certainly don't agree with you!

what da hell are you talking about? who was Ronaldinho when he was 20? he only started to be decisive in his last two seasons at PSG, he was 22/23... Rooney was decisive for Everton when he was what? 18?

I wouldn't call scoring 5 goals in a season decisive.

It's a fact that both only started playing much better when surrounded by better players.

OVERALL, at the age of 20 Ronaldinho wasn't a better player than Rooney... in fact, i think that Rooney is much more influential than Ronaldinho was... bcoz Rooney is much more like a hard-worker than Ronaldinho... Rooney can score, pass, dribble... and defend! That's why he deserved the prize... he's a complete and talented player...

But don't think i'm contradicting myself with these words... ;)

What i've always stated here, is that:
1. Ronaldinho had and still has much more natural talent than Rooney.
2. Today, because Ronaldinho has matured into a great player and becoz of his superior talent, he's arguably the best of the two... actually, he's the best of them all... :)
3. Ronaldinho is already fulfilling all of his potential, as a player... Rooney is still 5 years younger than him, and OVERALL (notice that i alwayz put Caps on this word ;)), he can be as good and influential as Ronaldinho, and he's not very far away from achieving that... BUT, in my opinion... you can give Rooney 20 years, he'll never be as talented (skilled), as Ronaldinho is...

In other hand, many of you pro-Rooney posters think bcoz Rooney is so young, he'll become much better than he is 2day, bcoz he still has many years ahead to improve...

Well, your theory could be right... but i do think that Rooney can't improve much more than this... don't forget that many players in their ealy-20's, are considered very exciting prospects... but when they reach the mid-20', they just drop their form, instead of improving...

Let's just wait and see what will Rooney turn out to be in a 5 years time....

That's true...

But never forget that Brazil has got the largest number of candidates for their NT team (in almost every position), than any other NT... ;)

WHY DO YOU KEEP SAYIN SKILL IS DRIBBILING?

so are u sayin that buffon is not skilled

Rooney is a better at this age becuz he is more of a complete player, all Ronaldinho can do is attack and juggle the ball very nicely simple, he cant defend. Rooney even rival nesta in defendin at times.

Ronaldinho had all the skills he has today, yet he lacked the maturity. But at that age he was winning Copa America with Brazil and he was the best player in the country by far.

i just wanted to add that at the age of 16 Rooney scored his first career goal for Everton. at the age of 16 Ronaldinho was rejected and cut by a very small Portuguese team called Estrela da Amadora (at the time Dinho's brother played for this team)

so, Rooney is better because he's european, right? At age 16 Ronaldinho was a nobody, because he wasn't in Europe while Rooney broke into a star-studded Everton side.... At 20 Rooney is dominating Europe and Ronaldinho is playing "only" in the Copa America.... like he had a chance to play in other tournaments...

Fact is, Rooney will have to work a lot to achieve what Ronaldinho has... and while he certainly can do it, it hasn't happened yet! it's like saying someone will win the title because they have 3 games in hand and are 8 points behind... achievable? sure... probable? maybe... certainty? no way

and please notice one can only compare titles, achievements and such... come on, they don't even play in the same position!

if ronaldinho continue to play like he does now until retires, he will be remembered with maradona and pele. That says a lot about a player. Rooney will be remembered, but no where near the same way. Rooney is good, but he is no where near Ronaldinho. If any other player on this earth today is to be named in the same league as ronnie, it is Henry.

Also, remember the figure ronaldinho is outside the pitch. Not that it has anything to do with this discussion, but I just wanted to mention it. Like Maradona and Pele was, Ronaldinho is a symbol of hope and that there is a way out of the gutters. He is already treated as he is something much more then a footballplayer, i that treatment and admiration (sp.?) will continue grow with time.

Firstly, i never said that Skill is just dribbling... you should read my posts, more carefully... i said that Ronaldinho being more skilled than Rooney is bcoz he has got much more natural TALENT... :read:

As for those comparisons between Ronaldinho/Rooney throughtout the various stages of their careers as footballers... they are so stupid...

So you guys really think that, just bcoz Rooney had a more successful early career, he'll become as good or better than Dinho?! Darn....... that's really dumb!

Ricardo Carvalho is a perfect example of your stupidity... he was nothing back in his early and mid-20's... look at what he's become now... a CB at the level of Ferdinand and Terry...

im utterly shocked at the amount of people here writing off Rooney to be as good as Ronnie is now in 6 years time...

Rooney is as good as Ronaldinho is now, remember that Wayne doesnt have the two best attacking teams in the world around him (Brazil and Barca), to say he wont (or cant) be as good as Ronnie in six years time is not only stupid, its naive.

Just to see the look on some of your Ronnie-obsessed faces, i for one would love to see Rooney obliterate every team in the world in the World Cup.

Oh and dont think im for one minute a Rooney fan, im a Liverpool fan remember.
