Good patch, I agree with those who consider the pitch a bit too much white, but that's fine all the same!
A question: are you able to apply this patch only to snow condition or, if installed, we will always see snowy pitch?

regular cat, i gave you an help on how you can act to have a snow pitch.
You can edit light files, but there is no need to change pitch color to green to white.
There is a row, on light files where you can change the color of terrain under the pitch, to make clear, the terrain you can see near the circle of midfield when you play in a field in bad condition in the game.
Edit this to make white the under pitch terrain (if i have time i can tell you the right row in the file, i'm no edit fifa in a while.)
Then, if you have a program to edit DDS files you have to edit grass_wear_x_y.dds files.They are files with a pitch designed.The white parts shows the green part of the pitch, the trasparent parts show the under pitch terrain...redesign it to make it like a snow pitch, with more trasparent parts, near the lines too, and you have a snowy pitch.I've to try if grass_wear_x(terrain condition)_y(snow condition on/off) work very well...but i gave you this trick to figure it yourself.Try it.

87 i didnt change any grass textures, its all done through the new_pitch_lighting texts files, making it compatible w/ any existing fifa 10 grass patch.

so if you have these lighting files installed you will always have snow, though it is possible for me to make it so that only example sunny, night, sunset have green grass & only overcast will have a snow pitch.

yea i have used the lighting texts, i havent changed the grass_color file at all.
only the grass_dirt dds & tga file to resemble more of a wet muddy dirt than
just regular soil under the turf.

as far as the grass_wear files i thought about messing w/ those, but havent yet.
i might do it, when i have the time, im working on a few things at the moment, a new ai mainly.

ive come a long way & learned a lot on my own in regards to editing fifa in my on & off 2 1/2 year period at sg.

i dont know what i plan on doing for this community anymore.

i didnt give md crap, i gave him my opinion.

i am part of fifa-infinity now, & md knows whats up.

people respected md before he stopped sharing.

apparently its the same w/ me, im not helping or sharing anymore & now im a hypocrite.

just proves my point, when i say you kids are only here for personal gain.
85% of you are useless, only good for making requests & bugging people for release dates.

Hey cat. I actually think the original one looks more like snow. It looks like snow, probably the best snow I've seen in a fifa game. The problem is that is blindingly white in-game. It's like the hue is cranked up so high that that the white portions kinda make your eyes squint at it. Like it's almost shiny or something compared to players, ball, etc.

The new one looks good too, but it looks kinda like a park about a week after a snow storm when the snow melted and it's mostly grass. Both look excellent, and both could be used depending on if you want it to look like it's in the middle of a snow storm of a few days after a snow storm.

From the screenshots, the amazing thing about the original one is that it really does look like snow on a field during a snowstorm. It looks like snow has accumulated and is fresh white powder. (which is great) Perhaps with different types of mow patterns it would be perfect. Like instead of the mow pattern you had with that, a generic mow pattern that was flush without and mow lines at all (just constant green throughout the pitch with no circles or square different shades of green) may look much much better and may alleviate the white areas from looking blindingly white. (whether it's the hue, gloss, whatever it is)

They both could be different snow turfs. Like maybe the new one could be used on a sunny day (supposedly after the storm has passed and the snow melted a bit), and the original one (with a different mow pattern or some type of transparency, hue, or gloss adjustment) could be the one used on an overcast day in winter mode or something when it's actually supposedly snowing and snow has accumulated to cover the grass.

Since it's all done through lighting texts, and making it compatible w/ any existing fifa 10 grass patch, I would recommend trying to find a more consistent grass pitch. Because in snow accumulation in a real match, you shouldn't see any mow pattern at all underneath the snow. It shouldn't be like a Zamboni iced a hockey rink where different parts of the pitch are different shades like it's a real mow pattern. I truly believe to make it perfect would be to apply a base, plain mow pattern without any lines where the entire pitch is a solid shade of green. With that said regularcat, the good thing is that since you can apply any grass pitch to your snow turf through lighting texts, we can experiment with this and apply different grass pitch to it to see if it the white powder areas are better and less glossy, bright, etc when combined with different shades of grass.

If there is a way to make the original one a more transparent white (less blindingly bright - like 90% white, 10% transparent or something) it may make a difference.

Ima try to find some plain solid grass turfs of different shades of green, and perhaps with the right combination in can look perfect.

I like your idea of using lighting texts to make the snow pitch, because snow should look slightly different depending on what surface you play on. For example, snow looks totally different on artificial turf than it does on grass. (play ncaa football 08 on ps2 / original xbox and put snow on a grass field vs a multi turf field to see what i mean)

Anyone recommend a solid green grass pitch without any mow lines / patterns?

its possible if i were to do it through the grass fsh files, only issues w/ that is
every square of pitch will look the same.

example : if i put a circle of snow in the center of each 512x512 square & imported the pitch would a circle of snow every 4 or 5 feet or so.

making it look really bad.

i think the best way to do it is through the texts, but like fifa has always been we are limited to what we can do.

i will spend some time playing w/ the texts seeing what i can come up with,
& see if i can find a way to manipulate the game.

i know what im talking about, which is why people ask me for help & for certain mods.
talk to me about sharing when you produce something for the community besides help threads.

the point is they dont have to be useless, they can learn like i did bobo.

i give people crap cause there comes a time when people will need to learn to do things for themselves.

because sometime people like duong, outsider87, md, etc will be gone & you will have nothing.

so lets all be lazy & wait for others until the community dies off.

as far as respect im to the point where i could care less who respects me.

i make mods for me, to share w/ other if i feel like it, this isnt a day job you pay me to do.

its my choice to share or not to share.

ive been modding fifa for 2 1/2 years, a lot shorter of a time than most of the big guys here, like duong & md & 87, i know just about everything they know.

you need to play w/ things to learn how to edit them, & when i got no help when i asked for it, i did it until i figured it out.

so there is no excuses for not being able to do anything for your own game.

& im tired of hearing how we are hypocrites & we get no respect because we dont want to share, when you are more than capable of
exporting files & doing something for your useless self.

but have the balls to leave bad criticism in peoples threads when you have no right.

i've read the kind of stuff that people say to regularcat and he's right, its not very nice. I totally agree with his decision and i wouldn't blame him. I can mod fifa but not as well as others. I think we should learn now how to not rely on others.
