thats definitely not his first, hes been around for a few years and well known in the underground.

chamillion really brings it on his mixtapes, some of that **** is better than anything on sound of revenge.
No, that was his first official solo album. You are right he was known for having sold hundrends of thousands of mixtapes before, but never had a real album that was entirely his.

Haven't been a big fan of the tracks that i heard of Kingdom Come yet. However, it looks like Snoop Dogg is truly back, after that crap period. If only 50 Cent could return back to his old self.

Food and Liquor is now officially my favorite album of the year. Well.... as long as King came out last year. I think it did. Either way, those are my two favorite recent releases. You guys WERE right about Lupe, he's pretty amazing.

The problem with him is that Get Rich Or Die Trying is as far as he got in terms of quality. Everything after that was crap. He had some good tracks from the Massacre but nothing great. And his G-Unit songs fell off badly as well. Now all the new songs that he features in, i don't even hear him rap, just laugh, talk smack and sing. I'm hoping that over half a year delay of his next album is worth it. I've lost all faith in Detox. The songs Dre recorded 2-3 years ago, just don't apply anymore, since the issues and problems totally changed.

Just heard a really really bad quality of the Black Republic off Nas' new album featuring Jay-Z. And i can tell you that this song is gonna be crazy!!!!!!

Hahahaha, are you kidding me!? Dre doesn't rap about anything meaningful, it's all about smoking weed and ******* ho's. Hell, everything aside from him taking shots at Eazy-E and the NWA management still holds up from The Chronic.

Do I need to post lyrics? Dre albums are all about ghostwriting, chronic, sex, mediocre rapping from Dre, great rapping from Snoop/Xzibit/Eminem, and stellar production.

Here's Still D.R.E, but you know The Next Episode, What's the Difference, and Forgot About Dre are all the same.

[Snoop]
Still Snoop Dogg and D-R-E (Guess who's back)
Still, still doing that ****, right?

[Dr. Dre]
Oh for sho', check me out
It's still Dre Day, A.K.
Before I chrome the lot, can't keep it home a lot
Cause when I frequent the spots that I'm known to rock
You hear the bass from the trunk when I'm on the block
Ladies, they pay homage, but haters say Dre fell off
How? My last album was "The Chronic"
They want to know if he still got it
They say rap's changed, they want to know how I feel about it

[Snoop - singing]
If you ain't up on pace

[Dr. Dre]
Dr. Dre is the name, I'm ahead of my game
Still, puffing my leafs, still with the beats
Still not loving police (Uh huh)
Still rock my khakis with a cuff and a crease
Still got love for the streets, repping 213
Still the beat bangs, still doing my thang
Since I left, ain't too much changed, still

Chorus:

[Snoop Dogg]
I'm representing for them gangstas all across the world
Still hitting them corners in them low low's girl

[Dr. Dre]
Still taking my time to perfect the beat
And I still got love for the streets, it's the D-R-E [Repeat 2x]

Since the last time you heard from me I lost a friend
Well, hell, me and Snoop, we dipping again
Kept my ear to the streets, signed Eminem
He's triple platinum, doing 50 a week
Still, stay close to the heat
And even when I was close to defeat, I rose to my feet
My life is like a soundtrack I wrote to the beat
Treat my rap like Cali weed, I smoke til I sleep
Wake up in the A.M., compose a beat
I bring the fire til you're soaking in your seat
It's not a fluke, it's been tried, I'm the troop
It's "Turn Out the Lights" from the World Class Wreckin' Cru
I'm still at it, After-mathematic
In the home of drivebys and ak-matics
Swap meets, sticky green, and bad traffic
I dip through then I get skin, D-R-E

[Chorus]

It ain't nothing but more hot ****
Another classic CD for y'all to vibe with
Whether you're cooling on a corner with your fly bitch
Laid back in the shack, play this track
I'm representing for the gangstas all across the world
(Still hitting them corners in them low low's girl)
I'll break your neck, damn near put your face in your lap
Try to be the king but the ace is back

[Snoop - singing]
So if you ain't up on thangs

[Dr. Dre]
Dr. Dre be the name still running the game
Still got it wrapped like a mummy
Still ain't tripping, love to see young blacks get money
Spend time out the hood, take they moms out the hood
Hit my boys off with jobs, no more living hard
Barbeques every day, driving fancy cars
Still gon' get mine regardless

What's meaningful there? He's not Talib Kweli, but who cares, he's not trying to be. Dre albums were meant to put on in your car and turn on the hydraulics, not to change the world. No need to pretend like they are. The Message is pretty good lyrically and guess what..... Royce Da 5'9'' wrote it.

Wikipedia: "In 1999 Royce contributed as a ghostwriter for Dr. Dre's album, 2001. He ghostwrote several tracks, including "The Message"...."

I'm not knocking Dre, I'm just saying that his lyrics aren't going to be outdated just because the album has been pushed back so many years.

Yeah, i guess, but what i meant is like that song he had with the Game called Here We Go Again, which was supposed to be off the Dre's album and in the song he said this is year 2003 already! So, like how are you gonna release an album in 2008-2010 with a song telling people to upgrade to 2003 or something. You know what i mean? Or he could have some line like "me and Proof sitting in my crib, smoking that kryp", like it just won't work like that.

Even that, when you push the album so far back, it will most likely flop or never get released. I'm not even sure if 50 Cent will ever release a new album, even though he promises one.

Banned for Life [He likes P. Diddy]
You make no sense man. Dre's work is anticipated because of its production, not because he's such a great MC. All he needs is a sick ass beat a catchy hook and he's done. If you're listening to Dre because of his lyrics, you need to check your priorities man.

Ps. Just Blaze sampled Rick James' "Super freak" on "Kingdom Come," hahaha.

Actually, upon listening to The Black Album recently, I think that Jay-Z has been getting by for a few years just because he's Jay-Z. The Black Album and Blueprint aren't anywhere near Reasonable Doubt. In fact people say stuff like "Jay-Z has the greatest flow in the world" and to be honest either I don't actually know what flow means, or Jay just isn't actually that good. He doesn't even try to ride beats and his "style" is choppy now. I actually don't want to hear him and Nas together because I think Jay would hurt the quality of a Nas track.

I still have a 7-minute long song by Cam'ron, where he shows all the catchy Jay-Z phrases taken off rappers like 2Pac, Biggie, Snoop and even Nas. Keep it on my iPod, just because of that. I believe he even talks about the Def Jam sign of two palms out being ripped off from an old Nas video.

I agree, some tracks from Reasonble Doubt are a lot better than some from The Blueprint, like "Coming of Age", "22 Two's" or "Regrets". Though some songs on The Blueprint (talking about 2) are great - "A Dream", "Guns and Roses" or "Blueprint 2". And I really like "My 1st Song" from TBA (not to mention 99 Probs or "What More Can I Say").

Haha I laugh when anyone ever tries to bring up that argument. That video is the biggest bunch of bull****, these lines are famous lines that any rap fan should know and Jay using them is nothing else but showing respect to those who influenced him. FFS, Jay Z and Biggie used to work together!

Might as well put this on your iPod:

On a similar subject though, I can't believe Jay Z even made a record after Ether :D

So what if they used to work together? Doesn't mean that they came up with a verse together and both used it. Or you think that getting famous by using somebody else's lines is OK (i do realize that Jay-Z got famous for other reasons too ;) )?
Showing respect by using them as his own? He didn't say "like 2Pac said blah blah blah", he used as if those lines were his own. It's the same thing as using somebody elses idea in your university paper without sourcing it. Seems like nothing wrong with that, but it's illegal.

BTW, i don't care about Cam'ron, he is not even big enough to argue about whether he was stilling rhymes or not.
