that's the problem with threads like this, people vote very ignorantly because they can only accept the leagues that are shown on tv in their countries. Those of us who can see SuperLiga games know that it completly owns the French and Dutch leagues, and produces a huge number of young talents.

Well it´s a fact that the portuguese superliga has less visability than most of the european leagues. It´s also natural when ppl don´t know much about a certain league that they have a tendency to downgrade that countries championship. But anyways ppl are entitled to an opinion. I mean ppl have different tastes. Some ppl prefere a more technical football, others enjoy the tactical battles and others prefer the tradition, will and fighting spirit of the players.
Well these are my preferences:

Epl
La liga
Serie A
Bundesliga
Superliga
Dutch league

Well, the french league has done better in europe this season, so i guess thats why. Porto was the only port team to make a splash this season. and if youre gonna put the portuguese young talent up against the dutch and french leagues, than you got some balls. (Y)

balls? not really, just look at youth teams and young players exported to other leagues in recent years....in Europe the only countires who argueably produce more young talents than Portugal is Italy and Spain. ...and not only does the Portuguese league produce several young talented players, but it also happens consistantly. year after year there's always a new crop or a new "Figo" in the making.

buddy, can you keep a straight face when you say those things???? Just Ajax alone offers better youth players than the entire Portuguese liga. Ill admit they produce some good midfielders, but come on, the dutch and french leagues are feeder leagues to top 3 in youth talent.

horsesh!t, Next to Ajax, Sporting is known as one of the best football schools in Europe. I'm not making that up, it's widely known.

Well and only C. Ronaldo has been successful (or at least the only one you hear the most), but insted look at Van der Vaart, Van der Meyde, Kapo Mexes, Robben, Govou or Luyindula... just to name a few.

Hey that's just my opinion

besides C. Ronaldo and Quaresma, there's Postiga, Viana, Tiago, Boa Morte, Deco (yes, he was born in Brazil but his pro football career was started in Portugal), Makukula, Moreira, P.Fereira, Danny, plus others that are on their way to Spain and Italy soon enough as there's no lack of interest. Yes, some of these players are having better luck at their respective clubs than others, but they're still young, and have all made impacts at the youth levels, and been more successful than their Dutch or French counterparts at the U-19 and U-21 NT levels.

I'm not saying they are the greatest in the world or that the French and Dutch don't produce great youth, I just don't think I need "a lot of balls" to make that comparison, it isn't that far fetched.. It's a fact that Portugal has had very successful youth NT's since the early 90's (WC champs, Euro champs..) and has exported many young players over the years to top clubs around Europe on a consistant basis. I'm not making this up, find the stats..
