Rank the leagues (don't close, this thread is different)

Youth Team
There is a thread out there asking people to make up a team of the best players in the league and then they can compare these teams and say which league is the best. By doing this we can see which league has the best stars. However, this doesn't rank a league by its overall level of play. There is a difference. For example, Spains top 10 players are just as good, if not better than the top ten players of Serie A or EPL. But I think the overall level of play is the best in Serie A, then EPL, then Spain. Another way people compare the level of play in leagues is looking at the top teams of each league. The EPL's three best teams Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United. Serie A's best three teams are AC Milan, Juventus, and Roma. By comparing these teams, one could make an argument that the EPL teams mentioned are better then the Italian teams mentioned. But in my opinion, Serie A has a higher level of play.

I think the best way to rank overall level of play would be to look at and compare all the teams and players from each league to decide which league is best, not just focusing on the elite teams or players. By doing this I think the leagues rank in order:\

1. Serie A
2. EPL
3. La Liga
4. Bundesliga
5. Ligue de Profesionale

Don't close this thread-it's different then the one that is out.

La Liga :rockman:

Vive en Espan~a?

Since you follow the Spanish league a lot more than I do, can you explain to me how Valencia, a team with few internation superstars, could possibly get first place over Barca, Deportivo, and Madrid? Those teams, especially Real Madrid with Ronaldo, Raul, Figo, Beckham, Zidane, Roberto Carlos, and Casillas, have lots of big name internationals yet they are behind Valencia. I don't understand why.

they were more consistent (spelling?), Benitez (coach) did great (awesome) substitutions when they were needed. Barca, i really dont know why they sucked in the start of the season, but whatever what was happening was solved and with Ronaldinhos and Davids arrival things just got even better, Madrid :rolleyes:, the "stars" in my opinion and others were too tired, they were in 3 competitions and Queiroz didnt know how to handle it, the defence simply SUCKED, it was too weak and helgura was having an awfull season, plus thosand of other things... Deportivo were having a great start of season but im not so sure why they started to play crappy...

Just because madrid has names dosent mean that they are supposed to win dude...:rolleyes:

muy buena Valencia!!:rockman:

Maybe cause you dont know very well Valencia players: Baraja, Albelda, Mista, Vicente, Marchena, ... spanish players not very well know as Beckham, Figo or Raul... but that are very skilled and consistent.

Apart Valencia have Ayala and Aimar, 2 great argentinian players.

I think La Liga is the best league in europe mainly cause one reason: it have lot of top players from Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, ... that makes the difference. Almost every spanish team have 5-6 south americans players in his team.

La Liga
Bundesliga
Serie A
EPL
Lique 1
Dutch League

La Liga and Bundesliga are the top two because its never a 2 or 3 team title race, places in the top 4 or 5 are always going to be hard to get, just look at Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.

you cant say that serie a is defensive football, just because we have the best defenders and keepers in the world playing there doesnt mean its defensive

note some games that roma won by ATTACKING,
roma 4-1 juve
roma 4-1 inter
roma 4-0 parma
roma 6-0 siena
roma 5-0 brescia

sure that wasnt the greatest example but i just like seeing us beat juve, inter and parma by such large scores

Lol, can't frikin understand why people say Seria A is a "defensive league"...

2003/2004

EPL = 1011 goals
Seria = 816 goals

EPL played 40 more matches (38 weeks vs 34 weeks).

Actually the difference between the two leagues is 74 games.

Serie A = 34 weeks X 9 matches per week = 306
EPL = 38 weeks X 10 matches per week = 380

So the goals per game averages for both leagues go as follows:

EPL = 2.66
Serie A = 2.67
