OK. I have read many interviews with SeaBass and it seems to me that the interviewers never drilled SeaBass hard questions. I know it maybe out of respect but no one seems to ask him why certain in the series still have not been iron out and how they can be improve. So if you have a one on one interview with SeaBass-san what questions would you ask him? Here are mines, what are yours?
1. If the PES/WE series are supposed to simulate the beautiful game to the fullest, why hasn’t the referee be implemented on the pitch during actual gameplay yet? It would add another dimension to the game because players would have to pass around the referee. If the inferior ISS series has the referee on the pitch why can’t WE/PES?
2. Why is there no snow as an option in the weather settings?
3. Why is there no “Man of the Match” or MVP honor at the end of the match?
4. Why is there a delay in the release of the series regionally? Does KONAMI know that using this distribution method they are actually losing money because gamers will do anything to get their hands on the latest version? In a way, KONAMI is encouraging piracy because of this policy. KONAMI can eliminate this by making a worldwide release at the same time. If that means pushing the release date back toward Christmas, then do it. That way, all the latest transfers are updated.
5. We know that the WE/PES has licensing issue. Now this maybe a company decision not to spend the money to get the license, but why can’t there be more teams both (international and clubs) based upon a league structure. There should be more non Europeans clubs. Believe it or not, there are WE/PES fans all over the world not only in Japan and Europe.
6. Aside from the licensing issue, KONAMI has also neglected signing STAR players to promote the game. STAR players are recognized by fans and they can sell games.
7. Customized difficulty settings. In games like Madden NFL and NHL, there are customized difficulty settings called sliders where gamers can customize the difficulty levels according to his liking. Can this be accomplished with the WE/PES series?
8. The commentary in the US and European version of the game is atrocious. Can KONAMI get the license for BBC sports or SKY sports to get their announcers and their TV broadcast presentation? This would add more realism to the game.
9. For the PC version, are there plans to make the game easily modable? Because of the lack of license, gamers can mod the game to make teams have real kits and stadiums to look like what they should. This is one of FIFA big advantage for the PC version. There are people out there who actually like modding games rather than play them. EA knows this is one of their biggest selling points for PC version and they are not going out of their way to make it impossible for gamers to mod FIFA. They actually encourage the fans to mod the game to their liking.
10. Given that the WE/PES series always received rave reviews from game reviewers, does KONAMI know why its sales figures are always behind FIFA? Have KONAMI gone out of its ways to promote the product outside of Japan? Because aside from the pathetic PES website (http://www.pro-evolution-soccer.de/site/auswahl.html) which have not been updated for over two years, there is no official non-Japanese website to promote the series. Does KONAMI want to develop a rapport with their fan base? Look at what EA does with their FIFA series. The fans have a place where they can voice their opinions about the series. WE/PES fans do not have that luxury at the moment. Does KONAMI not want to know what the fans want? Look at www.sigames.com and what they do with their CM series. Sigames is even smaller than KONAMI and fans of the CM series feels they are part of a community because the developers interact with their fans.
