okok, i have played fifa 2004 for ps2 and xbox, and i have played PE3, my conclusion is the xbox version of fifa is better because it is faster and alot more smooth, the ps2 one is identical just maybe a bit unresponsive, so if you are gonna get fifa get it on xbox...but if u only have a ps2 then i would reccomend PE3, someone in the previous post said that the PE3 animations were abismol...i can tell u that they are definitly not and the goal keepers are really good. The gameplay on PE3 is much better...but im still a die hard fifa fan becuase off all the official sponsors and player names, which is stupid really and most people will buy fifa, although i can say that i did enjoy the xbox version nearly as much as PE3 its close....i would say 1.fifa on xbox, 2.PE3, 3.Fifa on ps2

CIM BOM DOM or whaeva - listen buddy - the fact of the matter is that you're obviously a PES fanatic and know ur stuff when it comes to your game...

but when it comes down to FiFA 2004 you don't know what you're talking about and i would let you off if you didn't come here trying to slag it off - look you can't even play the game, you've obviously not played it enough to understand it and you didn't even give it a chance - you haven't even done a backheel in the game? i can do it every single time i want to - it all depends on your timing and if you played the game enough you'd know that it's not only possible but it's easy to pull off too...

now keepers, passing, shooting and etc sucks in fifa? you OBVIOUSLY just played a few games and condemned the game - IMO (as i've played both demos PES3 and FIFA2k4) i don't see a single thing in PES3 that is better than FIFA - yes previously FIFA was lacking in the realism compartment but in this version things were put right and the overall package in FIFA is better and to justify this - by package i mean the following:

Gameplay PES 9, FIFA 9
Graphics PES 8, FIFA 10
Sounds, Music, Commentary, etc PES 6 FIFA 9
Player Animations PES 9 FIFA 9
Game Interface PES 5 FIFA 9
Lasting Appeal (considering the carrer mode and online play) PES 7 FIFA 10

Say what you will but you can't convince anyone here that PES is a better game except ur fellow fanboy buddies...(that said PES is still a quality game but coming in here and claiming it's better?... go back to the PES forum bud)

First let me say that I'm getting both games so I'm not taking sides here, but how are you able to give a lasting appeal rating when the games have only been out a few days?

I didn't see this in FIFA 2k4...

both teams (Milan and Juve) had very different ways of playing, that u could see were based on players attributes...so, Nedved was all the diference for Juve team, exactly as in real life, coz withuot Nedved Juve is nothing (sorry juventinos)...he pulled up all the plays for Juve's team...I found the way Juve team positioned on the field very realistic...but the realism in FIFA it is really soft, u feel like ur watching a TV match...u can't 'see' as if there were lines written over the field that tell where to this or that player is going...very discreet and unpredictable, btw...

and, well, ok u asked me about PES in 5 star level...look, I don't think that PES is bad...very opposite, I LOVED the demo---- btw...the menus, the music and all, ran very perfectly, but everytime that the players sprites appeared (including on the menu and of course, in the field, in the game itself) the game got sloooooooooowwww...like a slow camera replay ---- do u ever wonder why? if someone get this answer, please tell me...and I'm eagering to play the 'patched' version of it...with Brazilian teams...

----but, back to the point here...if u try playing FIFA 2k4 in the world class level ur gonna see a huge difference too, 'coz the difficulty in amateur level it is already considerable...and, once u learn to use all those in-the-fly options (which is almost impossible with the keyboard) the cpu adversary changes a lot...I only played the demo and tried to defend my team by positioning my players normally, with the arrows, ya know, trying to predict where the cpu was attacking...Nedved always found another way, Del Piero always had a new position to impress my defenders...

the problem with PES playing against cpu, it's that u can predict most of cpu's plays...once u get mastered, even in level 5, u can tell what is gonna be cpu's next play...the only thing that gets harder it is to beat the defenders...just that...coz they get cowardly faster than u...

Whoopie freaking doo!

Why is this forum suddenly filled with people who have played for "their school" so think they know everything there is to know about soccer? I played in the Nationwide div 2/3 for seven years but don't consider myself to know anything near all there is to know about the game. There are probably FIFA fans on here who know more than me and I'm dang sure there are PES fans on the other forum who do but to make a statement that becasue you played "in school" and for your "local club" for 2 years, you know what you're talking about! Please! Objective FIFA fans, I have all the time in the world for but freaking 5 year olds who think becasue they've had a tour of NASA that their suddenly a freaking astronaut.........

Please bring in the real FIFA fans who can hold a good discussion not people who spell school" as "skool"!

PES 3 vs Fifa 2004, whos gonna win the battle? Well i can safely say tht once again old pro evo comes out on top. I have been playing fifa and although it is much more playable than last years version the introduction of this moving players system simply is NOT enough for an upgrade to a football title. Sure it boasts about 29 sadiums including lower league grounds and all the latest kits but its not all about eye candy. I think the cameras in fifa aren't really that great in both games, wht happened to the iso cam in fifa?
I think its safe to say that both games are considerably difficult on the default settings and you are less likely to end the game with a rugby score(though i did get 5 goals an 4 on fifa but not regularly, only once, tht ws on semi pro, it depends who you are playing i guess)The most I've scored in a single match on pro evo is 3 and thats on the 5star setting!!
I'm a big fan of fifa and buy it every year along with pes but i think maybe ea should think about changing development teams. I mean cseriosly i don'y mean to offend you if you are canadian but wht does this country know about the sport of football.

Anyway I jus wanted to let you know what I think. I'd agree that fifa 2004 probaly merits 8/10 while pro evolution soccer 3 i'd give 9/10. I think small touches like different netting and different weather(where is it in fifa?) make pes an an even better game adding to the realism even though it doesn't look as polished graphically it is still impressive.

If you have one choice only I would highly recommend PES 3, hell you could rent the two games, if you are a true football fan you will make the right choice!!!!

Don't they teach you how to use punctuation in your 1st grade class? Freak me! The FIFA case would be a lot stronger if it was made by people old enough to shave!

Please. Don't turn every thread into FIFA v PES, there's a special forum for that. I'm a PES fan but I can appreciate certain elements to the FIFA series, I've owned every one of them. If nothing else, FIFA v PES threads just bring out the little kids who have borrowed mommy and daddy's PC for half an hour when they should be watching the cartoon network.

If I told you that I'd have to reveal the Eng Prem reserve player who also appears on here regularly but I'll leave you guessing on that one.

Ok, fifa 2004 in wc is hard but the teams play the same way. You will not see any difference between AC milan and Juventus or Man U and Real M. PES 3 gives you that.

lol?...anyway mate, i get the feeling that you actually think you're being objective when you're as far away from that as possible, so lemme ask you why would you say that PES fans are more knowledgable than fifa ones? "There are probably FIFA fans on here who know more than me and I'm dang sure there are PES fans on the other forum who do"

Oh and more PES fans are old enough to shave? Give me a break...

And CIM BOM DOM : "Ok, fifa 2004 in wc is hard but the teams play the same way. You will not see any difference between AC milan and Juventus or Man U and Real M. PES 3 gives you that."

BS - in both games the only reason why a team should play differently than another team is a different formation, strategy, tactics, etc - so PES3 "gives you that" no more than fifa does..(or your saying teams in fifa have identical formations, tactics, etc) stop trying to slam fifa with everything you say plz

No you don't have to tell us who the Eng Prem reserve player is. Either state your teams or kindly don't refer to it again

Thanks

I don't blame PES fans of doing what they do...they have a 'PESed' eye for everthing...so, if they have to rate some footy sim, they do it by comparing with...PES. If they have to consider FIFA's gameplay, they do it by using...PES as the standard weight. It's hard to discuss something like that.

Please, compare PES with the REAL LIFE GAME and FIFA with the REAL LIFE GAME. Don't compare with each other.

I don't really think PES fans are up to learn how to dribble, how to run (what means, in FIFAS 2k4 a lot of 'timing' learnig - btw, just as in real life, coz in real life, u don't simply dribble a defender by turning ur whole body to the other direction when the defender comes wildly - outside penalty box - or stupidly - inside the penalty box - as it happens with PES dribble system.

this what I mean when I say that PES it is arcade-ish for me. The way u control the players to dribble it is so damn easy, as if u were playing Sega's Virtua Striker. while in FIFA, u have to consider player's 'weight'...I mean, u can feel it...

and...one more thing...how can the teams play exactly the same (yeah, maybe in the demo) if the players show very different caractheristics...try to make a fast run with Seedorf and with Schevchenko and then with Gattuso...man, the difference is noticeable!! but...the cool thing is...it is a smooth noticeable difference...as in real life, as if u were watching a game on TV. It's not like in PES, when u get a player like R. Carlos for example...if he reached his top speed...goodbye marking defender...that doesn't exist in the real life.
