today's newspapers are talking about Sporting interested in Helton(GK from Leiria) in think it would be great if he comes to alvalade.

also nikolaidis is on is to PSG...now sporting are looking for another striker.....they say João Tomás and Silva are possibilities

silva is wanted by sporting Porto and Benfica

It's good to see our bigger clubs investing in Portugal's younger players for a change....it wasn't too long ago that some of our best young talent stayed at little clubs or sat on the bench while very mediocre foreign players got the playing time (still happens I guess, but not as much..)

João Tomás had a lot of injuries this season (:kader: ) and Silva isn't the striker that Sporting needs. a good buy should be Nacional's Stricker Adriano (23 years old) and Defensive miedefielder Paulo assunção ( remember that DM of Sporting had a lack of quality - Rui Bento, or old - paulo Bento-)...BTW Clayton is a very good player, left-footed and when he was called to FC Porto 11 he's done a good job

Yeah, I agree with you 100%, but there's still one club that hasn't learned the lesson (hint: Drulovic, Zahovic, Roger, Panduru, Feher, Deane, Thomas, etc., etc...) :kader:

Speaking of which, I read today that the Ricardo move is still not 100% secure. Are we in for a surprise?

Apparently, Porto gave up on Benny, but the real negative news is that we're after... Silva and Olisabede. :|

Ricardo is owned by Benfica, but he has yet signed a contract. He's supposed to do this on Monday, then be presented to the media with Junior next week :)


BTW, 8 players from our starting 11 are Portuguese. The only reason we're chasing these other guys is because they're being let go on a free! Camacho already said that if he prefers Portuguese players on his squad. I mean we need a left back, so we got a Brazilian..... Name a good Portuguese left back ;)

Definately Jorge Ribeiro! Best left-back in Portugal. I still don't understand why he's not the national team's starting LB :confused:

Sure, who's in Portugal National Team? Nuno Valente played the most games in Porto and made a great season, it's one of the best left defenderes in Portugal, Great in defense and great in attack, you are really fanatic, open your eyes...

Riiiiiiight. None of those players are near the level of Junior. Although it's nice of you to include Carvalhinho :) . He's our future LB.

The left-back position is, together with the left wing one, the most fragile in Portuguese football, nowadays. It's hard to find someone like Paulo Ferreira for the left side.

Ok, Nuno Valente has prooven me wrong. He's a good player. Mário Silva, doesn't play much. Bad temperement, but fast. Tiago Carvalhinho, still has to develop much. Jorge Ribeiro, wanted to get out of Benfica so much, he ended in Division 2. Makes me remember of some PSG midfielder than has been rejected by Marítimo :rolleyes:

The solution was to look out of Portugal, and Júnior seems to be a good signing, in my perspective. Although I don't quite like much loan signings, I have to agree with this one.

And with Geovanni here for one more year, now we need to confirm the pending moves. I'm starting to get scared about Ricardo not signing.

But... selling Ednilson to FC Kaiserslautern for €500k?!?!?! THIS IS A RIP OFF!! UNETHYCALL!! UNFAIR!!

Yeah I read about this Ednilson transfer on Mais Futebol, and I'm still.......very surprised and dissapointed! E500,000 for a player with such potential is robbery. Please tell me this isn't true!!!!!!

btw McCarthy won't be playing for Porto next season, all because of McCarthy's agent who wanted to get more money than that he deserved with the business...I wonder...the agents are suposed to defend their client's interests or their own interests? :kader:

This character Rob Moore has ****ed up Benni's career.

In 2000 and 2001, his proposed transfer to Middlesbrough collapsed due to him wanting his own share of the transfer fee.

Last summer, again Rob Moore, wanted a really big share of the transfer fee Porto would pay to Celta. Again, transfer aborted.
