Hi there, i simply want to ask all the regular posters on the FM/CM/Older CM Games forums if there is anything you would like to see different in these forums, in particular this one.

FM06 isnt released until October/November time, but would you like to see anything done differently in the run up to this time, maybe you wouild like to see the forum structured differently for the new game, e.g. get rid of the players forum or add a specific screenshot forum, anything that you think would be good ask here.

What about things that annoy you? maybe you think there are too many useless threads or that us mods are too strick.

Basically and ultimatly; i want your opinion on the forum at the minute, and how YOU would have it change over the coming months.

I think it is as it should be. Maybe the "SG United and FM Challenges Forum" is not necessary, maybe an "Achievement Forum" could be something instead.

But apart from that, I think it's good as it is now. :)

i think the SG United and Challenges forum has to have something in the name saying "online" somewhere, most of the threads in there are about network games.

Well I consider myself to be a regular so here we go:

I would like to see more stories about people's FM game. So maybe we should have a seperated forum called something like: 'FM Stories' or whatever. I, myself, always enjoy reading on a detailed level about someone's game. Screenshot forum isn't really needed IMO because one thread is enough('Screenshot Showoff'). Player forum is very useful IMVHO, I found some great players thanks to the player guides uptop(like Lastuvka and Collen) plus I'd like to share my findings with the other members on this forum. The structure of this forum should stay the same: findings posted in the player guide, discuss of players in new threads.
Also it might be a good idea to make something like a patching forum. This might encourage people for making patches, graphs and updates and post them here...

There's nothing really that annoys me ATM except for there are few people to post about FM here. Basically we have about 5 to 10 regulars, while I often here outside this forum people posting about FM who've never been inside this forum which is quite strange although I don't know a solution to this.

EDIT: What I think is strange aswell is that we have mods around here that barely visit this place. That's quite strange to me

great post, and yes i agree with the fact that there are a lot of people on SG who play FM but dont like talking about it, also yes, we do have a few mods who dont visit here regularly.

Personally i agree with what you're saying in keeping it pretty much the same, however we have had an FM/CM stories forum twice before and both times it was redundant to say the least.

thanks

I'm not really a regular poster but I read lots of posts, and maybe a FM stories forum would be nice otherwise I think its really nice and I agree with nor-rbk that the "SG United and FM Challenges Forum" isn't really necessary as well as the Players forum is very nice and usefull

Maybe, but I don't think it will be so active. Maybe it could be a mixture of online/network games and a stories forum.

hmm, thing is you dont want a massive hybrid sub forum because then its getting like having two forums. Personally i think stories are OK located in the current main forum.

I see where you're coming from though, id like to get some more opinions on this.

I'm quite a regular one cause my Opera always load up this forum to check on new threads. I think the forums are fine as it is. How about a FM 2006 Wishlist Thread?

yeah thats a good idea, me and Ruud would have made one of those soon enough anyway so dont worry :p

I think it might be nice if you tried to relaunch the challenges, as people seem to enjoy them, however it seemed to die out. I'd keep the player forum, but encourage people to post about their finds more often. This could be achieved by, and this is nothing against the mods, but a little less strict modding. I sometimes get the feeling that people are scared to make threads, because they either:

a) They get abused for not searching for it
b) It gets closed when the slightest hint of off-topicness crawls in
c) It turns into another "discussion" between Ruud and Tom, eventually being closed

I'm sure people dont like it when the threads they make get closed. Might influence their future "i want to make a thread to post my find" spirit :D.

Tom is talking about sub-forums, but to be perfectly honest i think that you should maximise it at the current number, otherwise you end up filtering out every thread, and end up with nothing in the main forum :D. Maybe you should assess the number of stickies, and maybe some of them could be merged with the FAQ, because i think some people probably see them all, and think "Wow(H)" (well, it depends on their upbringing and wether they have become a member of the yob culture, in which case they may well think something like "Damn B*tch" or even "Well F*ck-a-doodle-doo") due to all the information they may have to sift through. We all know how lazy the human race are, and that too much info can just switch people off. They therefore go make a thread, which results in what was outlined earlier :D

Not alot needs changing, just some slight things.

thanks Nick, great post. I know what you mean about the players forum i think me, Ruud and the other respected members do tend to come down on people asking silly questions, maybe in future that forum can be a little more relaxed when people ask questions.

I wasnt suggesting having any other subforums, just renaming one or two.

Bringing back a regular SG challenge wouldnt be a bad idea as it was very popular a few years back, could be good.

i love the FAQ thread but i hope it can be more efficient such as a quick link to specific section. it saves up a lots of time go through every single page for 1 problems

Nor-rbk im pretty sure FM06 will be carried on here, eventually FM05 will have to be talked about in the Older CM/FM games i would guess.

ngyc good point, we shall try and make the FAQ as detailed in future but with a better reference using the first post, not easy to do but like you say; more useful.

Get rid of those dead sub forums, there's hardly posted in them, if those threads are posted in the main forum I think they'll get more replies, more people watch the main forum I think.

I agree the second subforum needs a new name. It's too much focussed on what's not actually there atm.
The players forum is without question, really. It's been essential to the CM and FM forum in the past, and will remain a spearhead for future versions, no doubt. Maybe we can make it a share with tactics and trainings, would bring a little more life to it.
I liked Max' idea about the editing forum. We could stick SG Utd in there, and leave the FM Stories and Challenges to the second one.
