Photoshop CS (Photoshop 8)

I don't even see much difference between PS 6 and 7, although I think the ability to re-size brushes in PS7 is really valuable

Every update since Photoshop 6 has been pretty much for the pro's or people who use it a lot, if you're just using it to mess about you probably won't notice much difference but if you work with it day in, day out you certainly will.

Having said that, it's an easy way of making money on Adobe's part too.
 
at work we still use photoshop 5.5, it's still a good program but I really miss some of the convieniences of the newer versions. There's definatly a change between PS 5 & 6..

Yeah the upgrade from 5 to 6 was the biggest update, version 6 really was a huge upgrade and advancement on previous versions.
