Footedness is the least of it. Komapny and Terry have played pretty much exclusively in the oppositd positions as you put them. Why change them around?

Because I like them more this way. They can play both sides anyway, no big deal. I've seen Kompany on the left and Terry on the right too.

His defense could be better though, with Abate being the obvious weakest link there.

Playing on the left side of the central defense is a little bit harder for a right footer. Kompany being the better CB I've decided to give him this small burden, leaving Terry with an easier job on the right. Satisfied, honey?

Both are comfortable with ball at feet, maybe Kompany even more so from his days in midfield at Anderlecht

I don't think it's harder, much less for a CB who has played tgat position for over a decade at a high level and is comfortable on the ball. The key issue at tthese things is adaptation so I would let thwm play rheir usual positions.
