OFFICIAL : Michael Owen to Real Madrid

Pointless signing. Owen will be a bench warmer and eventually lose his place in the England squad. I can't see Liverpool missing him much though the form that Cisse is in at the moment.

nah I don't think he lose his place in England
the only good one England have besides Owen
is Shrek.

Who are they going to use Heskey?

only if Eriksson calls Beattie

Owen has the reputation of a galactico, not the football. Just look at his record on International Stage : 2 goals in the WC 2002, One measly goal in Euro 2004. He got a few goals for us last season (even with bad service), but still, if he scored all the penalties and some sitters we could've finished higher, or maybe with less than 30 points gap away from Arsenal.

And i watch the EPL.

He score 2 golas in World Cup 2002
one agains Brasil and I think another against Denmark

International stats don't really mean much though. There are a lot of players out there that perform very differently on the international stage to they do in club games.

I'll edit. Anyway, a galactico is supposed to score more than 2 goals in a WC (the one against Brasil thanks to a great assist by Lucio).

exactly

Owen was in his way to becoming best
English striker in International level.
and to become Liverpools and Premier League
top scorer

Yeah, that differs the very good ones from the world class ones.

So than does Shevchenkos sucks?

he hasn't score in any big turnament.
but I still think he is one of the best in the world.

So the world cup doesn't say much.
It says more about countres than single players
ofcourse some players shine alot with the help of their
country.

Ir Ronaldo or any other player was Ukranian he wouldn't
have score any goals in the world cup.

I don't tnink internationals say much about a players class. There are some top class players that just don't play well at international level. You've got to remember that they are playing with different people using different tactics and everything so if a player isn't playing well it's not always because his not top class it's just because he can't work as well with the difference of play.

Shevchenko has to be pleased with the poorness of the rest of the Ukrainian team. I'm a Milan fan aswell and dont expect me to say that Sheva sucks so you're getting it all wrong.;) The WC says about country and single players. Like it or not, the World Cup is still the world's biggest stage in terms of football (Euro 2nd, CL 3rd).

World Class players shine both on WC and club (when they are fit of course). There are top players that dont play well in international stage but they have themselves to blame. Ask Henry.

That's bullsh!t. Henry didn't score at WC 2002, does that mean he wouldn't be a galactico at Real Madrid?, no.

the media around madrid is going to be a circus this year, more so than last year:o

i dont know how people can complain about this signing, he only cost 8 million pounds!

yes, good thing they got owen for cheap, i think that was truly the only reason they got him becuase they couldn't pass up the cheap offer, even though they don't need a striker. I think maybe they should loan him out now.

I'm excited about it. We won't have tired forwards this year, that's for sure.
