Owen landed in Madrid at 17:50, in Torrejón aerodrome. The Englishman was in the company of his wife and his personal assistant, Andrew Dart. The he headed for Clínica La Zarzuela in order to undergo the relevant medical checkup.
The forward got in the clinic at 18:28 to be welcomed by the club’s official doctors (Alfonso del Corral and Juan Carlos Hernández), as well as the Medical Head of Clínica La Zarzuela, Carlos Díez, and its manager Carmen Maza Rubio. The striker came into the medical building amid a cloud of flashes from the media photographers. Apart from the Spanish press, many of the media covering his arrival were British.

he is also reported to be earning LESS than what he earns now. I think its a dumb transfer from Owen's perspective. He wont be earning more money than at Liverpool, he wont be guarenteed a first team spot.

Foolish move by both Madrid and Owen, especially if he's taking a pay cut. I suppose 9 million pounds isn't really that much, but Owen's been struggling and it's more or less certain he won't be playing first team football. 9 million's a lot ofr a bench player. I think he's doing it so he can get some trophies, but come on, he won't have contributed much of anything to the effort even if they do get some silverware. Do you think those guys who rode Jordan's coattails to six NBA championships feel much of a sense of acheivement? As if trophies make Tony Kukoc or Steve Kerr better than Stockton or Malone . . .

Well yes, a stupid move by Owen. I think the only reason Owen struggled at Liverpool over the last few seasons was due to Houlliers tactics, i would of thought that Benitez could have brought out the best in him this season. Would be a nice slap in the face if Liverpool were to win the title :p
