Actually going by the last world cup you would want to finish fifth in the qualifying to win the WC.

QUESTION: Does Chile eliminate Colombia (if they tie in points) for that away goal? I think they do (meaning Colombia could win 18-0 vs. Paraguay and it wouldnt matter).

I think thats how it works now (cause game 1 was 0-0 and 2 was 1-1)

No, they don't. It seems the away goal rule is only applied in play-offs.

If teams are still not separated after taking into account head-to-head points, you must look next at their goal difference in their head-to-head encounters.

If they are still equal on head-to-head goal difference, then the greater number of goals scored in the head-to-head matches is the deciding factor. Still equal? Next is goal difference in all the group matches, followed by the greater number of goals scored in all the group matches. If none of the above factors can break the stalemate, a play-off game is held on a neutral ground.

Good to note: as per the regulations, away goals are not taken into consideration at all in the 'league system' group stage.

Chile's goal difference is -4 while Colombia is +7 Chile should do like 12 or 13 goals more than colombia, sorta doubtful.

It's confirmed Argentina be the head in Group D in the World Cup.

I have no doubt that chile is going to defeat ecudaor. Nelson Acosta knows how to play at home not like Juvenal "Perro Verde" Olmos, because of him chile is almost eliminated. If we had played the rest of the 17 matches like we did the 2nd half against colombia, we wouldnt be depending on other results.

But i dont think uruguay will lose against argentina, for 4 reasons :

Uruguay is the home team
Argentina is playing with reserves maybe with the exception of aimar, but definetly without riquelme, crespo, ayala, sorin, abbondazieri, etc.
Argentina is already qualified so is taking this match as a friendly.
Uruguay is playing with all its main players.

I saw that game man. After Chile scored that goal, Colombia pressed forward desperately and left like 3 defenders and barely 1 mid to defend their goal. THUS Chile counter attacked like crazy. I think Colombia would have easily won if they werent so desperate.

Colombia had like 2 chances in all the 2nd half, Chile had like 4 or 5.

- If Chile and Colombia tie in the 5th place -> Colombia (unless Chile scores like 14 goals to Ecuador)
- If Chile, Colombia and Uruguay tie in the 5th place -> Uruguay

may the best team get the chance to kick some kangaroo's asses in November (the 12th in SA and the 16th in Australia)

If Uruguay and Colombia tie in 5th, Colombia qualifies, not Uruguay. Just thought I'd clear that up.

And Argentina isn't fielding a B side. Or at least they haven’t confirmed it yet, unlike Paraguay and Ecuador.
