Da Silva is an OK striker. Don't know if he will be able to cut it in the EPL as he seems a bit lightweight. There again the Croatian League aint exactly soft and he did score 34 ( I think ), goals there last season. Time will tell as with all new arrivals.

The Croatian league isn't worth anything :(

However, I can guarantee that you won't regret this signing. Eduardo (that's what he likes to be called) is a great player, and with Luka Modrić the best in the Croatian NT. Last season he had a total of 55 goals, in all competitions, club and NT. I can't imagine him not doing well for you. If he gets chances to play, he'll completely satisfy, I'm sure of it.

Wenger obviously knows what he's doing, because Dudu is someone who could play for any club in the world. I'm not saying this only because he scored a lot of goals in our league (highest number of goals in one season in the history of the Croatian league), but also because of the way he plays, and the real confirmation of his quality is the NT, he excels there.

I'm delighted for Dudu. He deserved this, he made it.

Maybe this guy was the reason behind Arsenal's ease in selling Thierry Henry ? Could be a very interesting gamble by Wenger.

Pretty risky signing. He is an excellent striker, in the croatian league...
Filling Henry's shoes? Come on... Its a big gamble, and he could very well be a great striket, but Henry is Henry, we will see.

Replace Henry? No. I don't think you can replace him at all. And I certainly don't think Dudu has the skill of Henry's level.

But it isn't a gamble either. Dudu will please both Wenger and the fans, and he'll turn into a very, very good player for you if he gets continuity in the team.

I had never heard of the player before today, but I belive in Wenger.
I would still like to get one more striker. 4 realistic strikers i could see us maybe getting are Martins, Babel, Huntelaar, and Owen. One of those players and I think we are alright with the strikers. I had also heard rumors about Anelka coming, but I'm just not a personal fan of his and don't think he would fit in.

As for other positions I would want to get another winger and if possible a center back.

We'll have to patiently wait to see who Wenger can snap up this summer, but i will say that i'm not 100% pleased with the squad we have right now.

Is it fair to say that He is more of a "True Striker" unlike Henry whom drifted around.

Aslong as he can finish he could be in for a good time at the Emirates.

if arsenal are saying they are going to make only class signings this time of the year, and then turn around and sign eduardo da silva after selling henry for 24 million pounds they have got to be joking!

you seriously can not take this arsenal team serious, i mean sure he scored hell of alota goals in the croatian league, but its the croatian league. You can't take anyone over there serious. Okay maybe i am being alittle mean, but whoever is running the Arsenal squad goes ahead and signs this player must be joking. I can signing him maybe as a 3rd striker, but i hope this isnt the player that will fill Henry's shoes...guess only time will tell.

I dont hink he is 3rd striker. I think he will be alongside v. Persie in the first XI. And you are going to see why! The guy is lightning fast and is a great goal scorer. He scores everytime he plays. Against Arsenal when they lost 5-1 he scored. Against England when Croatia won he scored. First you gotta see the guy play and after some matches give your judgement. I hope he is a big hit for you guys!

Yeah, I'd say Dudu is more of a "true striker", but he can offer much more than that. He's fast and agile and he can dribble very well, so I think you'll be happy with him wherever he plays. However, he'll play his best games in the ST position.

I think he'll finish better than most players on your team. Remember that I'm not basing this only on the poor Cro league, but also on his NT performances. And finishing is finishing, wherever you play, so I think you can count on a good ratio of taken chances.

I can't wait to see him play for you. Someone of his skill deserves a team like Arsenal.

I also can't wait for the bashers to eat their words. I know most of you haven't heard of him, but give the guy some credit, let him adapt a little and see him play, THEN comment.

ive have not seen much of him but from his goal agenst us n england i say hes a good buy and i can also see him starting alongside van. persiebut dnt think he will score 25goals a season?

Twenty five goals is too much for someone who just came from a weak league to one of the strongest clubs in the world.

I predict him scoring something between 12 and 15 goals in his first season. If he gets the required chances, that is. Later on it will be more, but first he has to adapt and win his place in the starting eleven.

I've been reading the newspaper today and there was an article about Dudu's move. Zoran Mamić, a Dinamo ZG official, said that he had been stunned by the knowledge Wenger has of Vedran Ćorluka. He said they'd been to a dinner following the completion of Dudu's transfer, and Wenger knew everything about Ćorluka, even the distance the guy covers per game. It seems you're interested in him, too. Also, the man who runs Dinamo, Zdravko Mamić, has said that in 6 months, Vedran Ćorluka would be an Arsenal player. Ćorluka is a great prospect, a very good fullback and he's one of three players who form the backbone of the NT - Eduardo, Modrić and Ćorluka.
I'm not surprised by Wenger's interest in Ćorluka, and it seems that Tottenham are very interested too.

I see Dudu got the number 9 shirt.

if so, does that mean that we'll probably change our game play from short quick passes to much more crosses?

i dont think that we will begin to use to crosses as wenger has always insisted on nice passin fluid football

Crossing is not something that a team "resorts" to mate. It is an essential part of any teams game. The reason that Arsenal have never relied on crosses is because it's been a long long time since they have had anyone who could get to the line and cross the ball well enough.

Who knows if Da Silva will be any good in England. When I read the hype put around about any player, I think of Kezman. Thats why it's a bit silly to get too euphoric over any player who was totally anonymous before last week. I hope he does well though.
