I'm pretty sure I do recall reading a statement from someone at EA Sports that they were still committed to FIFA on the PC. I think I read it on IGN. I looked it up earlier, but couldn't it (though I didn't look very hard.)
I wonder if moving to next gen might have an adverse effect on modding. I imagine it'd use a different file system than what it has been using for many years, it may prove to be not so accessible. Hell, look at Madden. A very similar system to FIFA and NHL, at least on the surface, but it's been virtually unmoddable.
I think if the next gen FIFA for PC wasn't mod friendly, it'd probably fail. I know I'd have significantly less interest in the game if I had to stick with EA's default graphics and settings. This game wouldn't be nearly the same without the efforts of kitmakers, adboard makers, stadium makers (of which there seem to be very few of these days. Most stadiums are just coversions from as long as four years ago, and sadly, they show their age. Then again, I never tried installing any stadiums until I found a few of eafh's stadiums, so being that those were my first, they kinda set the bar for me. Talk about a tough act to follow. But I digress).
Sorry, to get back on topic, I think FIFA needs the modding community for PC. That's the big advantage it has over consoles. They greatly improve what EA starts upon. If only EA would support the modding community and make it so we can create these mods and install them easily, without having to hack the game and make it potentially unstable in the process. But I'm sure there's no way that'll ever happen.
