WE4 hasn't got long to go now before it is in the final stages. What I'm doing right now is getting the shot mechanic sorted out to keep it challenging. In WE3, no matter where you shoot it is a challenge, no matter who you strike the ball with. In WE4, the shooting is more logical. Create a great chance with Rooney and he'll more than likely put it in the back of the net, only the difference between 3 and 4, is that WE4 is much harder to create a chance like that. The pressure on the strikers can really force a natural error onto the shot, which makes for some close calls and bad misses. Get clear space with your teams best striker and power up a scorcher! The game is much more realistic in this part and the CPU takes full advantage. As you may know or not know, I have worked on the CPU ability to break the user and doing this was tough because it's not simply an on/off option to break better! You've got to shape it all up and make it work right, otherwise you get a very odd feeling when playing. This isn't a problem anymore.
I will of course compare this latest WE4 build to the WE3 final to make sure that it is a clear improvement. So far, I'd say it is very much so more realistic and challenging in many key area's of play, defence being one of them (and probably the most vital).
Let me stress you that your managerial skills really make a 3+ goal difference now! You have to know how to compete against world class. You can't just sit back with default formations and tactics. The CPU is quicker at changing tactical options and getting at your weakness. EA SPORTS are obviously to thank for this, but I've exposed it even more so if you (for example) go a man-down, the CPU won't mess about. They'll get the ball into that free-space and exploit you.
It's hard to just go "here, this is this and right now the cpu is doing this", becuase the unpredictable nature of the update makes it far harder to judge where the games going and what score it's going to be. I was holding off Italy playing as England to 3-0 for first 10 minute half, then I quit the game in the 2nd half as I went down 6-0 pretty early. And it wasn't unrealistic. It felt, like I genuinely wasn't good enough. And that's
exactly what it should be. If I was really 'world class', I'd be unstoppable!! So now kids, world class really is world class. even if you're better then me...if you get your tactics wrong and only rely on your ability to pull off a few skills and accurate shots, then the cpu will score more then you.
WE4 is going to p*ss a lot of players' off who are used to playing on world class and winning 6 out of 4 games. Because now the average (not the amazingly skilled player mind) is going to win 2 out of 6 games, if that!
Seriously, I've created a monster lol. But hell, you guys pushed me to make it harder and then I pushed and kept pushing myself to make it harder...
Soon, this thing will think for itself lol.
