Well, I finally broke down and picked one up. I wanted to wait for the black version but after playing around with one yesterday on a shopping trip, I had to get it.
My review:
I have to say, I'm absolutley loving it thus far, it really is an amazing little device that's so far ahead of previous Nintendo handhelds. I had only actually held the regular DS before which I always thought was too bulky and frankly, pretty ugly. The DS Lite however is very sleek, a nice size, and has surprisingly good sound and image quality. The other thing that impressed me is the actual feel of the DS, it doesn't feel cheap and plasticky at all, but has a solid high-quality feel...similar to how an iPod feels in your hand. As far as the digital side of things go, it seems like it has a lot more to offer than the old gameboys, the DS has very well done interface and set-up screens, not to mention the included Picto-Chat program (which is kinda neat actually). The great thing too is that the best of this device is still to come, the most anticipated titles have yet to be released (a Wi-Fi multiplayer Final Fantasy, Zelda, Wi-Fi Winning Eleven, Web Browser, etc...) and it's supposed to be highly interactive with the upcoming Wii. I've even read that the DS will work as a kind of touch screen remote for the Wii system.
Speaking of Wi-Fi, it was very easy to set up and I've been playing multiplayer Mario Kart pretty much since I got it. Animal Crossing I can see is going to be very addictive, I got my wi-fi set up for it but still haven't got any friend codes yet so I still haven't checked out the multiplayer aspects of it.
If anyone has one or is getting one, don't forget to post you friend code #'s here!
