its sad when fans of a franchise are turning on the ownership, but man what can you do? the man has just completely killed the team, alianating the fan base and not willing to wheel and deal as much as he should. he just seems so set in his ways and he publicaly stated how he won't change his approach... :( i really feel bad for the hawks, but feel even worse for the fans, becaue there is so much hope, and wirtz just ****s on it every day.

By the way, when you guys say we about a team, could you tell what team you're talking about because people don't automatically know. If I used we, then I'd be talking about the Colorado Avalanche.

Damn, I just realised how bad of a position Colorado is in. It'll never be the same again. The good thing out of all this though is that at least the Canadian teams (mainly Edmonton) can actually compete now. The Cup is coming to Canada in the next few years.

Well, as expected, Pittsburgh selected Sidney Crosby with the first overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. There were almost no Russians this year. Between, is Marc Staal Eric Staal's relative?

Yes. Also, there are at least two more Staals in the pipeline, and there might be a possibility that there might be four Staals in the NHL one day.

Team Captain
Tuukka Rask for the Leafs... had some good stats, but then again, it's the Finnish league

and the Leafs get Jeff O'Neill from the Hurricanes for a 4th round draft pick :D signed him to a 2-year contract worth $3M... finally, Leafs making some good deals

- Niedermayer is close to Philly or Vancouver.
- Modano could stay in Dallas or go to Minnesota.
- Aucoin and Murray close to Montreal
- Forsberg and Naslund close to NYR.
- Domi could play with the Pitts...

Team Captain
wow, losing Roberts and Nieuwendyk at the same time... to the PANTHERS :| Roberts was a legend, good luck to him

and Nieuwendyk was good in his first season... wont forget his goal that helped to eliminate the Sens in 03/04 (H)

Flyer sign Derian Hatcher and Mike Rathje.

and Chris Therien. :kader:

And we trade Danny Markov to Nashville for a third round pick. :nape: bull****. makes no sense whatsoever.

Bahaha! Steve Clarke, Front office legend! (H)

But in all seriousness, virtually giving Markov away (especially when Williams did pretty well in his time in Philly) and bringing back a parriah like Therien all in one day should be enough to convince the front office that he is worthless. Then again, Mike Milbury still has a job :|

I guess this was one of the big days for free agent pickups. The ones I saw confirmed were

Foote to the Blue Carlos*s (?)
Holik to the Thrashers (3 year, 12.75 M)
Gelinas to the Panthers (2 year, 1.9 mil)
Aucoin to the Hawks (4 year, 16 M)
Demitra to the Kings (3 year, 13.5 M)
Zhitnik to the Isles (4 years, 14 M)
Lapointe to the Sens (2 years 1.9 M)

(all numbers per TSN)

I think the Aucoin signing is a bit big, but I recall hearing Footes was for pretty decent money (despite me not being able to remember) and Lapointe is a pretty smart aquisition for the sens if he can return to some of his detroit form.

This new CBA is making formerly irrelevant teams like FLA, Columbus, and Chicago (though they had started spending last offseason) big destinations, and it reminds me quite a bit of the NFL, where a 4-12 team can go into the offseaon, pick up cap rejects and make a few smart changes and bam: theyre suddenly division champs the next year: I only hope it plays out so crazily on the ice :D

More Free Agent Stuff
Didnt realize it, but Allison has agreed (and apparrently Lindros could join him for the league min!) to an incentive based contract with the Leafs
Also:
-Modano has apparrently reupped with the stars at 5 years
-Pronger has been traded to Edm for Brewer, Wojowitka (or however his name goes) and a third player

:o

I think losing Pronger, Demitra, MacInnis, and probably a few more oldies to retirement is going to spell the end of the blues postseason runs

Iginla is back with the flames for 3 years, 21 million, which makes sense, because 7 million a year is supposedly the new bar for a superstar

and most shocking of all

Gonchar is a penguin, 5 years 25 million. Its a bit steep, especially when they probably needed a stay-at-home Dman, but still :lui:
