NFL Thread 2014

I find it somewhat shocking that the media is calling for Roger Goodell to step down. They are almost trying to put the blame for recent indiscretions by NFL players on the head of the NFL commissioner.

Therein lies the essence of the problem - blame game. You're simply trying to blame someone for not stopping this. Ok. Well then you have to look not at Goodell but at his boss - the NFL owners. They're the ones who need to be blamed for chasing the dollar over morals. They are the root of the evil.

Owners would gladly hire ray Lewis (to snitch or not to snitch) because he brings in money. Really? They would give Ritchie Incognito a chance to play less than 1 year after he was cut for bullying. Huh? They resigned a child abuser in Adrian Peterson days after it was revealed that he assaulted a child. Are you kidding me?

Personally, I would ban Incognito and Peterson for life (they're both guilty!). Ditto for Hardy and Jonathan Dwyer - they did what they did and now they could be facing prison time, which I think is a just punishment. Actually, let's also throw in Adrian Peterson to make that a trifecta of NFL players who should be given the Aaron Hernandez treatment. Incognito is borderline. Ray Rice - banned for life, but he won't be going to prison because the victim is his wife.

In case you are wondering where I am going with this, I put the blame on (in order):
1. Criminal - players
2. Owners - who stand by criminals

Everybody is innocent until proven guilty. That has been abused so much that it is nothing more than a farce, to be quite honest. In the court of public perception, all of the above names are guilty. And nothing is going to change that. A new commissioner will do ****-all because he cannot ban players hired by his bosses - the owners.

Personally I think it's bullshit to kick players out of the league because of character issues, but whatever. America loves to get up on Mt. Pious.

^^^ I would say the same about your attitude on the subject and, quite frankly, about like-minded people. Public figures are held to a higher standard, as hard as some people find that to wrap their heads around.

Like you said though, but whatever.

I just finished my recruitment training for the Valencia football team. This is a weird sport because your body gets tired before you get tired and it's much more about explosiveness that endurance.

Which position do you (plan to) play? Every position pretty much requires a different body type and training.

It'd be funny if you're a punter.

Edit: Bobby beat me to it.

Which reminds me, I also went to a try-out when I was 16 but I didn't enjoy playing the sport. I didn't like the specialization of the positions and rarely touching the ball (I was never going to be a quarterback or running back).

No idea, they just said that I should come back Monday and start preseason training to get fit and in a month or two we'd start working on ball stuff and then tactics. Based on what I saw of the current players I assume I wouldn't get anywhere near the field until I gain muscle and possibly mass.

Based on sizes and stuff I figure I would be best fit at WR or CB because I'm taller than most here and I'm not big enough to be a hitter. I'd love to be a DE, though.

They haven't told me how much it'd cost though, but my gf tried for the female team and it costs them 350 a year, which is kind of sort of way expensive.

It looks fun but I kind of look firward to trying out actual hits and stuff.

Anyome got any idea on what position an unfit, 1.80 84kgs dude could play? They really wanted fat guys, they nearly fellated this huge guy that came to try out.

Did this thread get fucked up aswell in the progress?? It's not certainly helping to the facts that i'm coming off on psycs myself..

There really are no easy positions to learn other than special teams maniac which requires being a maniac.

Safety is probably the easiest to adapt to if you don't have a lot of size even though safeties are getting bigger too.

Your team is quite small if you're one of the tallest at 1.80. If you really want to go for it, I think defensive end/pass rusher would be the most fun position to play on defense, chasing the quarterback.

There's probably a shortage of fat line guys in your entire league, haha.

I was one of the taller guys out of those trying out, I dunno about the team. The offensive linesmen weren't that big, hinestly, and they were all short.

I wasn't asking about diffixulty, just what would be the best physical fit assuming I get fit with that size (or lose or gain some weight)

Thought that was a pop culture reference at first. That's an awesome name for a football team.

Through Wiki I also found the Badalona Dracs, previously called the Badalona Drags. (H)

Haha! Yeah, the Firebats. There's also a Giants. These guys said they won the championship three times recently though, not that I care about winning really

If you're afraid of getting hit then your best bet would be playing corner or safety as Bobby pointed out.

Wide receiver seems easy but it's actually quite difficult and requires a lot of concentration. Probably the easiest would be lineman, defensively or offensively. But both can be totally exhausting unless the opposition sucks.
