Hello everyone,
I downloaded the FM2005 Beta demo a few days ago and have been playing it pretty much solid since.
I really like the layout and design, they havent tried to be too clever or flasy (and I bet CM5 will be) and if anything, have made it more basic than CM4 resulting in a nice 'classic' feel.
I also really like the match screen. According to Tom, the Match Engine will be totally different when it comes to the actual version, but I think it's pretty good as it is, and it's great that you can set it's speed. I really like the old-skool looking scoreboard at the top too.
I do have one or two complaints, however. I'm finding it pretty slow, it's great that you can fiddle while the other games are being played, but damn does it take a long time to play them. It really does get annoying some times. The tactics screen also takes ages to load up in matches.
I also think the values are all wrong. I'm assuming they were set without taking the European Cup into account, but still, I find that the whole Chelsea team, and many other players (esp Defenders), are very undervalued. Also, the values seem to vary loads, they literally change by millions on a daily basis. I hope they straighten this out because it can be annoying. I am, however, very pleased that the transfer budgets and amounts clubs will accept for players have been made more realistic.
All in all I'm doing pretty good. I started again as Chelsea, having accidently corrupted my last four games . While I am yet to design any decent tactics, and havent even thought about training scedules, I am very pleased with the players I have found. Some of them are utter gems, the team I am currently playing includes only two players that started at Chelsea at the beginning of the game, and my youngsters are sure putting up a fight.
So, that's pretty much where I stand, I'll post more thoughts as I think of them. Also, if anyone needs a decent, young and cheap player, just say what position and I can probably recommend one.
