My thoughts on the (Beta) demo...

Hello everyone,

I downloaded the FM2005 Beta demo a few days ago and have been playing it pretty much solid since. :crazyboy:

I really like the layout and design, they havent tried to be too clever or flasy (and I bet CM5 will be) and if anything, have made it more basic than CM4 resulting in a nice 'classic' feel.

I also really like the match screen. According to Tom, the Match Engine will be totally different when it comes to the actual version, but I think it's pretty good as it is, and it's great that you can set it's speed. I really like the old-skool looking scoreboard at the top too.

I do have one or two complaints, however. I'm finding it pretty slow, it's great that you can fiddle while the other games are being played, but damn does it take a long time to play them. It really does get annoying some times. The tactics screen also takes ages to load up in matches.

I also think the values are all wrong. I'm assuming they were set without taking the European Cup into account, but still, I find that the whole Chelsea team, and many other players (esp Defenders), are very undervalued. Also, the values seem to vary loads, they literally change by millions on a daily basis. I hope they straighten this out because it can be annoying. I am, however, very pleased that the transfer budgets and amounts clubs will accept for players have been made more realistic.

All in all I'm doing pretty good. I started again as Chelsea, having accidently corrupted my last four games :p. While I am yet to design any decent tactics, and havent even thought about training scedules, I am very pleased with the players I have found. Some of them are utter gems, the team I am currently playing includes only two players that started at Chelsea at the beginning of the game, and my youngsters are sure putting up a fight.

So, that's pretty much where I stand, I'll post more thoughts as I think of them. Also, if anyone needs a decent, young and cheap player, just say what position and I can probably recommend one.

get a life pal (if you dont need to do that, just get the gold demo) ;) :p

As for the speed issues, you Cm01 fanboys, should realise you are playing a game released 3 years + later. Maybe it's time for some upgrade, I did that and it's fine. Warning to 01 fanboys, shut up with the speed thingy. compare with CM03/04.

(H) man I'd be scared if i was reading what I just wrote and didnt know I was joking (H) (jus joking but what i say is true) :mrpimp:

Nah, this is slower than 03/04. Not in all respects, but the time it takes to play the other games is much longer.

1. :)

2. I seriously cant remember the last time the majority liked a CM (yes Liam, CM) demo. If you remember CM4, people like Gareth were talking of boycotting the game they hated it so much. But they always warm to it, we're just pioneers :p

3. It doesnt need much changing IMO, but I'll go get the gold demo now.

4. My PC is pretty up-to-date I think. Why cant it just happen instantly ? :( (I know that's a stupid question before anyone points it out :p)

5. Good, good, I just hope for the better.

6. It's amazing, my rookie team of players with values all around £4m beat Arsenal (and everyone else) whereas my team of stars could not. God I am great at finding players :p Shame about my tactics, training and media handling :(

7. See above

FM2005 is very fast on my AMD 3000+ O/C - Intel 3.4Ghz equ. Which is pretty refreshing. I agree, matchs now take longer, not a problem though.

Sir Didier*CFC: It's worth giving the Gold Demo a whirl (we released it yesterday) because if you like what you see in the Beta, you should like the Gold a whole lot more.

Hmm, those specs arent that much better than mine. I think my computer might be quite clogged up with spy and adware though which may be slowing it down.
