My Career Stories w/Torino (Italian League)

Oct 2, 2005 (4-0-1, 5th place) (My first game with ‘Pro’ difficulty, and 8 min halves)

Next on the agenda for Torino is hosting the bottom-dwelling Doria squad. At 1-0-4(4GF, 7GA), Doria is tied for the second-worst record in Serie A. Torino is currently ranked 5th with 12 points, 1 point behind Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Siena, who have all played 6 games, and 4 points behind Juventus(5-1-0). Doria is led by midfielder Sergio Volpi, with 3 goals in 5 games. 18 year-old Simone Campagnaro can be found in front of the net for Doria, and he’s likely to meet a one Mr. Heskey at least once today. Heskey has a record pace of 12 goals in just 5 games this season, certainly not one he can expect to keep up as the season progresses though.

Both teams struggled to get their attack working early on in the match, with Doria reaching the goalie on several occasions. Doria actually opened up scoring in the 29th minute off a Fabio Bazzani header to make it 1-0. With a bit of pressure on now, Torino stepped up their attack, and a familiar face registered another goal. Akeem Omolade sent a fantastic through-pass to Heskey as he cut toward the middle and put it away to put the game all square, 1-1 (see video here!http://www.hhsl.org/tempfifa/TorinoCareer/Season2-Game6-Heskey32nd-divx.avi). It appeared the match would stay tied up going into halftime, but during what seemed like an abnormally long bit of extra time Bazzani was again able to find the back of the net. This time, he received a corner, chested it down, tapped it home to give his team the lead 2-1 halfway through(see video here!http://www.hhsl.org/tempfifa/TorinoCareer/Season2-Game6-Bazzani45th-divx.avi). Torino wasn’t about to let that be the end of scoring on the day though, and they got back into it quickly. Emile Heskey was roughed up in the penalty area as he fought toward a shot, and was awarded a penalty shot in the 52nd minute. Heskey had little trouble guiding it by a wide-eyed Simone Campagnaro, and it was 2-2 just like that (see video!http://www.hhsl.org/tempfifa/TorinoCareer/Season2-Game6-Heskey52nd-divx.avi). Not satisfied with a single point, Heskey took it upon himself to work some magic around three Doria defenders give Torino the lead, 3-2 (see video here!http://www.hhsl.org/tempfifa/TorinoCareer/Season2-Game6-Heskey58th-divx.avi) in the 58th minute. From there, Torino laid back with a strong defensive style, which seemed relatively useful for quite some time. Doria came dangerously close to tying it on two occasions though! In the 82nd minute they were able to get a shot on Andreas Isaksson, and Andreas’ acrobatic stop on the rebound can only be seen to be believed (see video here!http://www.hhsl.org/tempfifa/TorinoCareer/Season2-Game6-Closeone80th-divx.avi). In the 90th minute, stoppage time, Bazzani had a free run to the goal before being tackled down from behind by Federico Balzaretti just outside the box (see video here!http://www.hhsl.org/tempfifa/TorinoCareer/Season2-Game6-BalzarettiYC-divx.avi). With a booking recorded, Doria had one final chance with the free kick, but it sailed wide, and ended all hopes of salvaging a point in Delle Alpi.

Torino improved to 5-0-1, while Doria fell to 1-0-5.

Upcoming Matches for Torino: Chievo(3-1-2), Perugia(2-3-2), @Juventus(6-1-0), Coppa Nazionale-Parma(4-1-2)

Good stuff, Zhariken.

It's a good thing you caught Emile's hat trick on camera, this is the only place you'll ever see it happen! :D

LOL! :funny:

It appears after some Googling:

In the 2000/2001 campaign he scored a superb goal on the opening game giving Liverpool a 1-0 victory over Bradford City at Anfield.

He later recorded his first ever senior hat-trick in the 4-0 win against Derby County at Pride Park. That season he finished second top scorer behind Michael Owen with 22 goals in his first full season at Anfield.

Looking at his career stats, what the heck happened to his scoring touch after 00/01? Was he just not the focus of the attack on his team(s)?

Just a short update tonight:

Torino 3 - Chievo 0

Goals:
Heskey 26th
Omolade 31st
Maniero 90th

Chievo missed a volley from point-blank range off a corner in the 75th minute that would've made it 2-1.

Torino outshout Chievo 19-9 (and 7-5 on goal).

Torino's Maksimovic received a yellow card in the 17th minute for a poor sliding tackle.

Andreas Isaksson earned Man of the Match honours with his 4th clean sheet in 6 starts.

Torino improves to 6-0-1, 2nd place in Serie A.

Next up is 2-3-2 Perugia (12th), then off to Juventus (7-1-0) before the first leg of Coppa Nazionale.

(Edit: I've gone about ordering a capture card online, and I already have all the wires, etc to feed the connection. Hopefully I'll be able to put up proper videos/pictures of the action in a couple days!)

Cool, I hope to see those videos soon.

I just got the game and I'm playing in career mode with Salernitana and dominating the league. It's currently the transfer window and I loaded off a lot of the sh-t players and brought in some Latin Americans who are doing quite well. Players like Delvecchio and De Rossi all rejected me.

So I'm wondering, Zhariken, when I get promoted to Serie A will I get a lot more transfer points and will I be able to bring in new players like Carlos Tevez into my squad?

Thanks man.

Heskey went through a real rough patch. i think Mr Holliuer has to take some blame for this. he made liverpool play to Owen's strengths way too much. are whole game was based around Owen.

I just completed my Serie B season and came 1st with Salernitana, I've now moved on to Serie A with Messina. Any tips on how to handle my first few games and take advantage of the transfer window?

I was really shocked that I received NO bonus transfer points when I moved up to Serie A (this was noted in my season summary post). I suppose they expect me to simply earn it. As far as Tevez, your manager rating still might not be quite high enough, your 'league competition' level certainly would be though.

I read that if you CHANGE teams, you get a hefty transfer budget, but I can't test that until the end of this season...

Sorry for the late reply!

I believe I've made my roster as lean as possible, to try and get the best Starting 11 I can.

That is, I sell off most/all of my reserves (need to keep the minimum 18 though), and use those points gained to upgrade players I have on the field regularly. An injury could potentially hurt me quite a bit at this point, but those seem rare to get.

As far as the timing of the window itself, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed I can build up a nice bit of $$$ before January 1 hits.

Welcome to bigger, better, brighter Torino coverage! With a vast upgrade in our broadcasting technology, you’ll now be able to experience the highlights each match like you never have before. Now, I just hope the team can manage a performance worth watching!

Perugia must gain an advantage with their defense if they hope to win today. The Perugia squad features a strong trio of backs in Marco Di Loreto, Guglielmo Stendardo, and Jamal Alioul. Decorated forward Emiliano Balzaretti will miss the match with a pulled hip flexor, and is likely to return in 3 weeks. Picking up the slack for Balzaretti has been striker Al-Saadi Gheddafi. The third son of Libyan president Muammar Gheddafi, Perugia’s ‘signing’ of Al-Saadi was brought into great question last season. Whether Al-Saadi’s true intentions are to launch a football career, or set in motion a plan to buy the team, he is certainly putting his effort out on the pitch each week. Gheddafi’s 4 goals in 7 games lead Perugia, and is a large part of their 12th place standing in Serie A presently.

Torino is in the midst of a 3-game winning streak, defeating AC Milan (4-0), Doria (3-2), and Chievo (3-0) in their latest matches. Torino will meet Juventus in a week, and then face Parma just two days later in Round 2 of Coppa Nazionale. Led by team captain Emile Heskey (16 goals in 7 games), and goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson (4 CS in 6 starts), Torino would like to keep the momentum going as they approach two crucial matches early on. Despite the desire to keep their winning streak alive, the club is likely to rest a few defenders against Perugia ahead of their match with Juventus. RB Francesco Carbone (62% fitness) and LB Andrea Mantovani (63% fitness) will take to the bench, giving starts to LB Samuele Emiliano (88% fitness) and CAM Gaby Mudingayi (85% fitness, highest Marking rating of non-starters). CAM Paul Constantin Codrea will also rest today in favor of Fabio Quagliarella. Unlike Torino’s previous loss this season, when they attempted to play short-handed against Ascoli, Torino will keep Heskey in the starting 11.

...........................

It's a bit late, tired, I'll just put up the hilights:

* Gheddafi scores in the 19th minute.http://www.hhsl.org/tempfifa/TorinoCareer/Season2-Game8-Gheddafi19th-divx.avi

* Heskey nearly ties it late.http://www.hhsl.org/tempfifa/TorinoCareer/Season2-Game8-HeskeyNear1-divx.avi

* Heskey misses another fine chance.http://www.hhsl.org/tempfifa/TorinoCareer/Season2-Game8-HeskeyNear2-divx.avi

* Gheddafi puts it away the 90th minute.http://www.hhsl.org/tempfifa/TorinoCareer/Season2-Game8-Gheddafi90th-divx.avi

Torino falls to 6-0-2 and remains in 2nd place in Serie A behind this week's opponent, Juventus.

Thanks.

I just passed the Serie A season with Messina and won the league and Coppa Italia double. I was very disappointed to find out my choices of teams to manage in the following season... the best Italian team there was Messina! I thought I'd be offered jobs by teams like Lazio.

During my season I loaded off a lot of weak players and I bought in Danielle De Rossi, Marco Delvecchio, Christian Panucci and Adrian Mutu. Marco scored many goals and had scored more goals than he had made appearances.

In the Coppa Italia final I went down 1-0 to Roma by an early goal from Vincenzo Montella, then on the 30 minute mark I equalised with Adrian Mutu. Then in the second half Marco Delvecchio scored and put me 2-1 ahead. In the 90th minute I gave up a penalty, Francesco Totti lined up to take it to level the scores and keep Roma in the game.. He drilled his shot to the right of the keeper who comfortably saved it and parried it out of bounds! Defenders then cleared from the corner and Messina were crowned Coppa Italia champs.

Now I'm in my 3rd season with Messina, this looks to be a lot more fun as I'm in the ECC and I'm looking to win everything I can. I've already obtained the Supercoppa Italia from AC Milan, which was the first fixture of the season.

Unfortunately Marco Delvecchio has retired but as they say, out with old and in with new. I bought the big Sicilian Luca Toni and he will play up front with Mutu and DiNapoli (original Messina player).

What I found weird was that when Marco retired the scout manager bought a new player called 'M. Del Vecchio'. Is this just a co-incidence or what? The player is 18 yrs old. I never use him because his skill level is low.

Do you upgrade the scouting much? I haven't been, I usually focus on fitness, financial development and player abilities.

Does anyone know if I am successful this season, will I be offered jobs by teams like Juventus or even AC Milan?

Thanks.

Glad to hear you did well your first season :)

Sounds like you have a really strong club there. Be sure to limit Mutu's late-night entertainment though!

Great ending to your Coppa Italia, leave it to an Italian team to hinge the result of a huge game on a penalty... :(

As far as the retirement goes, I've read about new players getting the same name, and new players getting a new name..no idea.

I haven't really touched my scouting at all, I'm trying to dump all my points into finance at the moment. I figure I'll really need it to compete with the bigger Serie A teams, especially at a higher diff. level than I'm used to. I should put another point into fitness next if I can though.

If at first you don't succeed.....leave the region and open it again, maybe you'll get a new offer!

On the old (see: 5-6+ yrs) manager games, I randomly picked Verona one day, and I've been Verona and Torino in football games ever since. :)
