It is not fair to assess Pogba's performances yet because he has played 4 games after having played up to the WC final and did not get a pre-season. But don't forget; he comes from a league where EPL "flops" like Salah, Cuadrado and Gervinho are stars so it will take time for him to adapt to the tougher league.
Absolutely agreed. Thought I'd just share my thoughts on him so far. I'm like many others who are under the impression that he needs adapting and eventually will come good. Just a matter of time.
Gervinho was a flop indeed, for the most part.
Cuadrado joined mid-season and had trouble adjusting like this. Different culture, league, country and everything for him. He wasn't played that much, but when he was he didn't really deliver. I'm sure it would've been a different case under Conte this season, since he's such a majestic player, but his heart was set for Juventus. Just trying to justify him not really doing well.
Salah wasn't that good then and wasn't given a proper opportunity either, but yeah I get your point that loads of players who don't really cut it in the EPL can make headlines somewhere else. Although Serie A isn't as bad as you might think.

Of course he doesn't have enough support. At Juventus he had worldclass players like Marchisio, Vidal, Pirlo and Khedira playing alongside him. At Man U he has Fellaini (who has been pretty good but is still not good enough), Herrera, Carrick etc. I think Mourinho is being silly for not trying Schweinsteiger with Pogba because I think this could work with Blind or Schneiderlin alongside them. I honestly thought Schweinsteiger was good when he played last season. I say "good" compared to the standard of midfielders we have had in the last few years.
Yup.

I watched the highlights. That offside goal is a blessing because firstly, it means we are closer to exit the Europa and secondly, it is a big kick in the ass which will hopefully make the team stronger for the next game.
Well, it's still group stage at this stage and there are 5 more matches to go with the other two teams being rather mediocre.
Also since we've got quite a bit of depth to be honest - Europa League is necessary because it gives players like Rashford, Depay (although it seems to be the last chance saloon for him this season), TFM and some others playtime which they're not guaranteed in the EPL. Although there's FA Cup and League Cup too for that, but it almost seems as if we never take them seriously, and some players might take Europa League more seriously.
Besides De Gea, Smalling, Bailly, Pogba, Mata (to some extent) and Martial (who was probably played because he didn't start against City, no?) which is actually quite a bit of first team players, 5 others were the ones who haven't got much of a chance to impress yet.
Smalling is just coming back to the first team so he needed some "integrating" back to the team. And Mourinho said during the pre-season that he intends to give Bailly as much playtime as possible in order to get him adjusted to the squad. Same probably goes for Pogba.
So as long as Mourinho doesn't keep wearing first team players out the League matches, I'm all up for us staying in the Europa League.
