Most Underrated (or Overrated) Team?

Which team have you come across that is the most underrated or overrated? For underrated, something that definitely ticks me off is the US team - I know they're not great, but definitely better than the game portrays them. I mean, 3 stars? Come on. Even Senegal is rated higher then them. Even Mexico (not that they're bad, at all, but the US DID beat them in the World Cup). It really frustrates me to no end that the US team has zero respect. Last I knew, it was ranked in the top 10 (although that's probably dropped because of the Confederation's Cup performance).

it was silly of EA to even rate teams with 5 stars when all the players are rated from 1-100. Be consistent and rate them alll out of 100 that way you can have more realistic ratings and differentiate between the teams.

Real Madrid is overrated. Not saying that they're not a good team they're one of the best around but 5 stars? That means that they're perfect. No team in the world can be 100% perfect.

Well according to the theory of relativity, they probably set Real Madrid as the standard 5 stars and rated all other teams by their strength relative to Real Madrid's..

You have a point there but still, theoretically no team can be perfect.

That's the whole point.. in this case 5 stars doesn't stand for "prefect", it simply stands for "as strong as Real Madrid" ;)

Senegal are a good team, I suppose fifa aknowledged the fact that the Americans attitude is usually 'we love baseball, american football, OH and we have a soccer team thats the best' that's usually their mentality, they're not bothered, and they just take it for granted that they have an OKAY team. I also don't see how you can see Brazil as over-rated? How so? Also, the Fifa World Rankings are a joke, if you're ranked 3rd, it doesnt mean u'll beat the 10th team lol, just a silly little thing fifa do, I take it that's what you meant when you said they're 10th or something....

Right, all rankings are a joke, but it is used to garner some type of respect. But after Holland scrimmaged the U.S. shortly before World Cup 2002, their coach made a comment about how the U.S. was able to get so many chances against their team, they played so amazingly well, had they had a little more luck on some shots they would've had a different result, etc. That's a huge compliment. Add to that the fact the the U.S. team DOMINATED Germany in the World Cup - they just couldn't finish their chances. The U.S. definitely isn't bad. They're not great, by all means, but I think giving the team a lower overall rating than Senegal and some of the other teams is sad.

One of the kids that I coach in track made a comment to me about U.S. soccer, and I loved it. He said that Americans will become the number one power in soccer, eventually, just like every other sport in the world, and they'll do it the good ol' American way - if we can't get our own players good enough to win the World Cup, we'll spend the money to get in other youths from around the world to join our national side. Look at Freddy Adu...

And I don't mean at all that America spent money to get Adu - they obviously didn't. But he's a naturalized citizen. That's my point.

how can anyone say the usa is better than senegal??????

look at the squad player vs player - usa only has a couple good goalkeepers and nobody else is world class

on the other hand senegal have several quality midfielders playing with top sides (and not sitting on the bench!)

senegal deserve 3.5 stars and the usa should consider themselves lucky to be even 3 stars - 2 might have been more accurate - but ea want to keep american gamers playing by making the us team competitive enough to play

and for someone to say that the us dominated germany. WHO WON?

also to say they are better than holland - you obviously take one off results as important. Everyone who knows anything about football recognises holland as unlucky and in the best 5 international teams without a doubt

also - real madrid should of course be 5 stard - like grades, the teams must be standardised and you must have a team at the top with 5 stars

anyone who says bbrazil are overrated shuold also get a life - because who won the world cup???? not america!!!

even australia are better than the us - which is really saying something, and anyone who disputed this should take a look at their world cup qualification path...

so what if the us can beat some tiny little nations to get into world cup - they do not deserve a spot - let's see how they would go if they had to play a pressure match against quality south american competition instead of their little opponents who put up no competition

i just want to see the us play matches against germany, holland, brazil and australia now just to see how much america get slaughtered

the us should be considered lucky that they're even in the game?

i wonder whether most us fans can name 15 players in their squad - i doubt it, and having one player as goalkeeper for man u does not automatically make your side world class!!!!!

and freddy adu - overrated, should be playing for his home country without the us bringing in players for themselves to consider themselves the best

and i reckon in fifa 2005, 2006,....... every forum will be started by us gamers asking why adu does not have stats of 100!!!!!

compare him to other young players such as torres and he has nothing - just overrated, overpaid - just like everything else in us soccer!!!! (sorry about long message)

Do you know what "naturalized" citizen means?

Do you know what a lottery is?

Since you're from the same continent as Ghana, I'll assume so.

Freddy Adu won a US immigration lottery and came to America at 9. He was spotted playing soccer at recess.

Since he's now 14, he's lived here 5 years - naturalized. Get it?

Freddy was not scouted at 9 years old and brought in to save US Soccer. Get over yourself.

Secondly, the US could hand Senegal their ass any day. A nation does not need all their players in Europe to be successful. Also, all the world-class players are not in Europe.

We have three goalkeepers starting in the Premiership. Reyna starts for Man City and O'Brien plays left back for Ajax, irregarding injuries. Also, Cherundolo and Sanneh represent Bundesliga sides. Consequently, Diouf has nothing on Landon Donovan other than a Michael Owen autograph and your sold soul.

strong = attacking?
or
strong = star player?

then MU, Arsenal and Chelsea is good in attacking too. Arsenal still haven't defeated in EPL this season, even is poor in UCL. MU making themselves in 3rd places keep winning. Chelsea still place themselves at 2nd by 1-0 and 1-0 again. then can they rated as 5 stars?

if strong is because of star player. then 3 of them have plenty too.
Arsenal
Henry, Pires, Viera, Cambell, Ljunberg, Wiltord, Bergkamp, Kanu and etc.

MU
van Nistelrooy, C.Ronaldo, Giggs, Ferdinand, Keane, Kleberson, Forlan, Ole and etc

Chelsea
Mutu, Crespo, Makelele, Veron, Duff, Geremi, Terry and etc

should they all can be rate as 5 stars? i think Real Madrid should deserve 4 or 4.5 as acceptable

I wasn't saying that Real Madrid actually deserve the 5 stars because I don't think they're the best team in the world. AC Milan and Juve for example are more complete sides.
But of course what do EA know about football... "OMG Real Madrid have Ronaldo, Beckham and Zidane... let's give them 5 stars"

Get over yourself lol, and your country.

You realise that the US got really lucky in the world cup. The only reason they did well against Germany (in terms of possession) is because most of Germany's star players were either injured or carded, and they still won.

In terms of ranking, the only reason the US ever reached ten was because of the countries in their pool. Comeon! I am Canadian, and I acknolwedge that my national team isn't that great, I support them to the ends of the earth, but at the moment they aren't that great. Neither is the US. Simple as that. Mexico, Canada, Panama etc... not exactly competitive sides lol.

I doubt the US will ever become a true world power in soccer, unless its society gives up one of its other sports. There just isn't a big enough following. If you have ever attended a match in England, or any other European country for that matter, you realise how much different the atmosphere is. How much people care about the sport.

I think EA was very accurate with its portrayal of the MLS and american side.

And geez, you guys aren't even the number one in every othe sport. I remember a certain Canadian Men's... and Women's hockey teams handing you your butts at the Olympics. And then we won the World Cup after that... The only sports you guys dominate truly, are the ones you tend to be the only ones to play. ;) Everyone else plays football...

Oh yeah, I didn't see any American side in Rugby either... as I recall you guys didn't even make it to the knockout round.

Go England, way to win one World Cup. Now they just have to get the other (Soccer!)
