"Do you know what "naturalized" citizen means?
Do you know what a lottery is?
Since you're from the same continent as Ghana, I'll assume so.
Freddy Adu won a US immigration lottery and came to America at 9. He was spotted playing soccer at recess.
Since he's now 14, he's lived here 5 years - naturalized. Get it?
Freddy was not scouted at 9 years old and brought in to save US Soccer. Get over yourself.
Secondly, the US could hand Senegal their ass any day. A nation does not need all their players in Europe to be successful. Also, all the world-class players are not in Europe.
We have three goalkeepers starting in the Premiership. Reyna starts for Man City and O'Brien plays left back for Ajax, irregarding injuries. Also, Cherundolo and Sanneh represent Bundesliga sides. Consequently, Diouf has nothing on Landon Donovan other than a Michael Owen autograph and your sold soul."
Get over yourself lol, and your country.
You realise that the US got really lucky in the world cup. The only reason they did well against Germany (in terms of possession) is because most of Germany's star players were either injured or carded, and they still won.
In terms of ranking, the only reason the US ever reached ten was because of the countries in their pool. Comeon! I am Canadian, and I acknolwedge that my national team isn't that great, I support them to the ends of the earth, but at the moment they aren't that great. Neither is the US. Simple as that. Mexico, Canada, Panama etc... not exactly competitive sides lol.
I doubt the US will ever become a true world power in soccer, unless its society gives up one of its other sports. There just isn't a big enough following. If you have ever attended a match in England, or any other European country for that matter, you realise how much different the atmosphere is. How much people care about the sport.
I think EA was very accurate with its portrayal of the MLS and american side.
And geez, you guys aren't even the number one in every othe sport. I remember a certain Canadian Men's... and Women's hockey teams handing you your butts at the Olympics. And then we won the World Cup after that... The only sports you guys dominate truly, are the ones you tend to be the only ones to play.
Everyone else plays football...
Oh yeah, I didn't see any American side in Rugby either... as I recall you guys didn't even make it to the knockout round.
Go England, way to win one World Cup. Now they just have to get the other (Soccer!)
