I said what I didn't like about PES6, but lets not kid ourselves, its still the best football game out there..
But Konami need to move away from Assisted passing and on to manual power bar passing. They need to get away from assisted cpu gaming and make PES totally free, as I said, I had a game years ago called Viva Football(in fact its somewhere in my cupboards, just won't play on XP), again while not the greatest thing since sliced bread, it had manual passing! You hit the ball the way you were facing, not as a soon as you press the button in PES to pass the cpu picks a player, then your player if not facing that player will turn and knock it that way..
In Viva the direct of the pass/lob/long ball was down to 2 things, the way you were facing at the time of release and the power you put into the pass/lob/long ball. This meant that you could put the ball anywhere you wanted on the pitch, unlike PES where the cpu decides in what direction the ball is going.
You ever notice how you can't ever put a long ball over the back of the back 4, in Viva you could put the ball down into the corners, that got the defence turning and running back. In PES crosses are hit to or in the direction of your player, not into the box via direction and power. The amount of times Ive tired to put a ball beyond the back 4 only from one of them to head the ball away, that's becuase you can never get the ball over them , because the lob pass through ball is tied to where the player your hitting the ball to is standing, crosses into the box from about 25yrs outwide are always headed away by a cpu CB standing in the box just behind the D.
And example is the through ball , no matter how hard you press down on the button, if you have a team mate within 5 or 6 yards of your player making the pass, the that through ball will turn into a short pass, instead of a long through ball for your player to chase...
If they keep this Assisted cpu passing and don't free up the player and the ball (give us the power to place the ball where WE want, by picking the direction and power) then no amount of tweaks or graphics will make the next one any different from this one!
If they could make a game with manual passing all those years ago, free to hit the ball anywhere on the park, where it went and how long it travelled was down to the direction you faced your player and the power you put into it, then Feck me, it should be a dawdle in 2007.
