MLB 2007 Season

Clemens is mine.

Hyun, I have a question for you, and then a possible follow up if you are following the Brewers at all.

What is your theory regarding pitch counts? Basically, there seems to be this prevailing wisdom in the league that anything after 100 pitches is bad. I ask this because Ben Sheets was really mad today after Yost took him out instead of letting him finish up the 7th inning even though Sheets was at about 110 pitches. Should it be a judgment call, like if a pitcher still looks good at 130 pitches you keep him in, or after 100 are you jeopardizing the pitcher's health too much to keep him in?

They made his return look like the second coming of Jesus.
Damn on the 7th inning strech having him anounce his comeback was pretty smart. The stadium went on fire.

Can't believe that I'm saying this, but the D-Rays are a very sexy and entertaining team to watch....hitting wise. Too bad they don't have the pitching to compliment it, though.

What was that cautionary sticker that the A's would put on potential draftees who had a terrible track record and were to be avoided from that book Moneyball? Because their lineup is chock full of 'em............LOLzer

sabermetricians keep track of everything that's interpretable through numbers. in baseball between the numbers, they did a risk analysis of the 95 royals, where the starters were pitching with a 4 man rotation. the first half went well, because they knew they had a bullpen and they were fantastic (appier a cy young candidate, the worst was flash gordon with a 4.00 era). but they went over their pitch counts after the all star break, and their risk factor went spiralin'; the starters broke down and ended with horrible ERAs.

even with the 5 man rotation, it has been proven that more pitches per game is still dangerous to pitchers. as quoted in the book: throwing is ok, throwing while tired is not. and with Sheets as the starter, I'd still be worried with a 100 limit if he pitches the way he's pitched in the past. fastballs are fascinating, yes, but they're better with movements (even if that means the sacrifice of speed).

YESTERDAY lincecum pitched; 4 earned runs but care?? he's got the stuff, it's amazing how much velocity he has with his size. Hamels was great too, thought he'd p*ssy out but he pitched 7 innings (and wanted to go 8 I think).

Yeah, Lincecum looks like a young Roy Oswalt out there.

Sheets was hitting about 94mph on the gun, but he does have a pretty sick curveball. Jason Bay fanned on a curve that bounced before the plate. He doesn't throw enough non-fastball pitches though, in fact he really only throws two or MAYBE three pitches total.

it's prorated, but yeah.......it's the Yanks, man.....plus it's also baseball.....164 games+ an average seating capacity of most stadiums equalling 40k=double the revenue of most other sports.....

very true, I guess it just bothers me that the slowest and arguably least athletic of the major sports is where the most money is earned :(

hehe.....you ever play baseball on the regular either now or growing up? It's not an easy sport, bro. Infact, what's harder than hitting a well placed 95+ mile an hr fastball? Or learning to perfect the 12-6 Curveball, slider, sinker, or knuckleball? Infielding and Outfielding ain't no easy task either.

don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they're not skilled, but just overall athletic ability I'd say baseball players are the bottom of the pack. point in case, Sal Fasano :(

I was terrified to stand in the batter's box as a 12 year old little leaguer, and quit before the 14 year old season. In hindsight, I can see why; those pitchers are really frickin close and the control of a 12 year old's arm is probably not great. Plus, I knew that I at least would only throw fastballs, no curves or anything like that. Yikes.

For all I like to make fun of Prince Fielder or Ray King, for example, they do things that 99.9999999% of the population cannot.

hurhurhur....can't argue with that much since there are a ton of fat ****s in the league who are more than adequate at their jobs.

LOL....ain't that the truth. High School is 10x worse.....couple that ****ty control with vastly improved power.....in some cases, dudes pushing close to 90 mile an hour heaters fueled with testosterone machismoness that tells 'em that they've gotta do what ever it takes to protect their plate.

*Is it coming towards my temple? No.....towards my right elebeebone......****......NOT MY THIGH*

And all that is contemplated in like a millisecond, man.

there was an outfielder clash in our school team, the guy got like 3 teeth knocked out and had to be carried away with a concussion.

i don't play because i'm not fat enough and want to keep wearing proper jeans.

btw my nicknames for baseball players:
brian fatass mccann
ray fatass king
lance f*ckman (i don't know)
their size makes these perfectly reasonable. plus they have a certain ring to them.

f*ck sheets, nolan ryan is the one and only nolan ryan. i love his philosophy: you can have a walk, but you ain't getting a hit out of me. only with his arm.

i really hope lincecum will become a legend on his own rights; such electric delivery (almost japanese).

EDIT: david FATASS ortiz
