Okay, look. I know that Bonds is an unredeemable prick who's juicing ways have been circumstantiated about as well as can be, but DAMNIT if I wasn't engrossed and captivated by this remarkable chase over the last couple of months, man.

See, I was living in the Bay area when he first got to SFO and he was probably one of my favorite sports idols behind Griffey at that time so I've always had this offbeat soft spot for 'em that most San Franciscans also do, you know?

Anyway, those two last HRs, the one that tied it and this one that broke it, they were one of the most emotional sports moments for me, man. I was irrationally choking up actually last night watching that FSN feed, man......it was weird, the impact that it had on me......wasn't expecting that sort of response at all, man. I really can't think of a bigger, more significant sports moment in my life.....honestly. This is probably gonna be the most historic and noteworthy sport moment that I'm ever gonna witness.

It's just one of those "Moments" that everyone (atleast here in North America) will be able to instantly recall and remember all the little details of.....Where? SFO......off of who? The Nationals....against Mike Bacsik......the count? The ever suspenseful 3/2 count.......to the right of centre......430ft+++++

I realize that most of the East Coast was dead asleep when he hit it, but I really feel that this was one of those (here's that word again) culturally shared moments that make the hair on the back of yer head stand no matter how much you might happen to despise the mother****er, man.

LOLzer@ that emphasized asterisk and that infinite hatred for the mets.....hurhurhur.

Cmon, brah. It was a Reyes jersey.....gotta respect Reyes, man.

btw, I'd love to know if this made even a smidgeon of news in Europe, or other parts of the world on their sports shows?

hmm, why should it, I guess?

I respect Reyes man, well i used to at least. Until he claimed he was the better SS in NY. I mean he is a great player and the most explosive baseballer but c'mon its Derek jeter we are talking.

Get some 4 rings be able to move an A-Rod like SS to 3rd and than come talk to me about being the best.

You think that asterix is a big deal? Apparently you haven't seen the NY Posts front page yet (H)

hehe.....well, he does have the potential to be better than 'em statistically imo...interms of defence, he might already be. But Jeter does have that one intrinsic and intangible attribute that not many come close to.....leadership. He's a clutch performer when the stakes are at their highest, guy's respect 'em a ton and follow his orders....that's where his biggest value lies as far as I'm concerned.

And btw, the only reason why A-Rod switched to third was out of respect to Jeter. The optics just wouldn't be kosher in NYC if their hometown hero was deposed and forced to learn a new position......it just speaks to the remarkable quality of A-Rod (imo the second most naturally gifted baseballer of our generation behind Griffey) that he can Gold glove from just about anywhere in the infield....hell maybe even in the outfield if told to. A-Rod is ten times the player Jeter is, defensively speaking, and God only knows how much he's greater than 'em offensively, man. So don't make it seem that Jeter was able to retain his spot out of sheer merit and quality.....it was just simply out of respect and seniority, man.

Boy you are so wrong in that one. Yeah part was out of repsect, but mostly it is due to his LEADERSHIP and clutch performance on the playoffs. Compare A-Rod and Jeter in October? Wait i am sorry A-Rod has seen october very rarely and never made it past the ALCS, never went to the world series.

A-Rod better? YES. Would i want Jet or him on a clutch situation on the playoffs? THAT IS A NO BRAINER. DJ by far :drevil:

I don't think much of baseball but that's f*cking impressive.

That means sh!te considering the fact the team that did it has never been in the palyoffs

Um so :|? It's still 30 runs in 9 innings against a pro team.

Look, baseball is wins and loses. A 1-0 win is equally worth a 30-3 win. They did score 30 runs. Good for them. That won't change the fact that they're one horrible ballclub.

hmm.....Do you not think much of it because you don't know two ****s about the sport, or because you have a very low opinion of it?

Every sport is about wins and losses, that argument sucks balls.

Listen man, I've tried my HARDEST to get into it, I know rules, players, teams, history but I just can't sit through a whole baseball game and be even slightly entertained. I think the only way this could reverse for me is if Charlotte ever got a team.

I agree Alex, but in baseball there are 162 games per season; that's twice as many NBA games. I know you love the Bobcats, but you also realize that in the scheme of things a 1 point win is as good as a 40 point win. In baseball it is even more so, there are so many games that the stats tend to even out in the long run.

I've given up on baseball for the season. I can handle the Brewers sucking, but I can't handle them teasing me with a 9 game division lead, and then choking the thing away to the hated Cubs. I'm pissed. Every time I see them on the TV I get mad, and that includes when I'm at a bar (the happiest place on earth?). ******* crew.

Understood.....have you atleast tried playing the game? I find that the best way to really understand and appreciate the complexities and nuances of a sport is to actually start playing it. I had absolutely no respect for Hockey, Cricket, Rugby, hell even Soccer and loads of other sports until my parents enrolled me in an organized league involving those sports, or I picked them up in High School.

I can't claim that I can sit through the entirety of a Cricket contest, you know, but I can stand to sit through a good chunk of it and acknowledge the great talent required to play it now that I've tried playing the sport.

I despise folks who vehemently hate a sport without even having given it an honest chance first. Like with these Euros that you come across in messageboards or in real life who hate the totality of North American sports, or North Americans who feel the same about sports that are derived from other parts of the world.....they're equally ignorant and retarded, but yet ridiculously presumptuous about that particular sport that they rail against whenever the opportunity arises.......they just make me wanna.....GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Way to blow an already won division Willie. Now you get me why i would take Jeter over Reyes any day eh Yoss? Jeter comes swinging when the team strugles, Reyes doesn't.

The hated Sox won the division. Good for them. I'd much rather face the Indians other than the Angels. Pesky lil' fvckers those homies from LA.
Honestly if we pass Cleveland i'd rather face Boston than them. We match pretty well against the Sox.

O and you gota love the Cubbies and Lou. I am happy they are back on top. Arizona (2001 is still very much alive) unfortunately made it to.
I am hopping the Phillies hang on to it and i wanted the Rockies to be the wild card. Too bad seems like the Padres will be the wc.

Overall a good baseball week.

No lets get the job done Yanks.
