2) Powell is the next Gibson in the making. Excellent with long range efforts but shockingly poor passing.

Stop crying, yeah it hasn't been a perfect start to our season, but try to stay positive.. Powell's main position is AM or striker, so no wonder the guy's shite as a central midfielder.

His poor passing is not based on only today's game. His passing is poor and has always been. His passing rate was 65% or something like that for Wigan. This is unacceptable for a central midfielder or an AMF.

I know this was a league cup game but has there ever been a successful premierleague team using 3-5-2 in the last 15 years? I think liverpool flirted with the system once not sure

is that aimed at me? ah sorry prob not you mean the thrashing suffered tonight and you would have named a premier league team that had success winning titles using that system

I can only remember one team using it in the Premier League, Wigan under Martinez. Won a Cup but also got relegated, the ultimate "mixed bag".

England is the country where it's least likely to work, I think. The quickness of the league kind of works against it. United don't have the personnel for it either, and that makes it worse.

The facepalm is at the result. I don't think fender would facepalm a new member.

Ferguson deserves as much as the blame for the team's demise as Moyes, probably even more since he was in charge for a longer period. It's not like he left a squad strong enough to win the league behind...Of course the biggest handicap is having a rookie chief exec in charge of transfers.

Well SAF signed RVP who we didn't really need during his last season. Guaranteed us a league title, but right now it's just a headache for the manager in charge. He's not getting any younger, has some history with injuries etc... You cannot leave one of our main strikers on the bench either.. It's kind of same with Mata, quality player, but was he really that necessary? I'm not a huge fan of the new formation either, yeah we've got lots of injuries but still.. I just can't wait until the end of this transfer window. A CB + MF would be needed as well...
