Scholes is a horrible example. His positioning was good, but the only defending he did involved horrific challenges trying to injure the opposing players.

But you're right, Man U won't play 4-3-3, so a pure DM doesn't really make sense. Guy you want WAS Nuri Sahin, but you slept on that transfer, so now... I don't know, Kwadwo Asamoah?

Scholes's tackling is horrible but he is not a pure attacking midfielder. He tracks back very often. He is not really a ball winner but he tracks back to help the defence, collects balls and sends 60 yard passes from near the centre line. He is perfect for a traditional 4-4-2.

Jones? I would like to see that too but I don't know how good his distribution would be in the centre. Btw Sir Alex also said Valencia can play in the centre too and he has done so for Ecuador. His physique is very suited with that kind of position but I'm not too keen of playing players out of position. Remember how he totally outskinned Baines?

:D

Would be interested to see him in the middle.

Jones maybe could have done it 10 years ago for United, but he isn't technical enough to play in midfield for you anymore. He would lose possession on an infuriatingly frequent basis.

Good news, Vidic has retired from international football. Too bad Rooney won't do the same. United players playing for their NT's is never a good thing for them nor for us, especially when it comes to England (Rooney, Beckham...)

edit: okay, the Vidic thing isn't official but a wild guess by the media...

They get paid by the cap, which is why players rarely retire from the international game before they it is necessary to extend their club career... unless they play in Africa and risk getting shot up like the Togo team. African players retire from international football as youngsters somewhat frequently.

You realise that's a foul, right?

Valencia had the ball and used his strength to get past Baines. I don't think thats illegal.

Liverpool game coming soon. Can't wait.

Fabio was on the bench for Brazil and Evra played for France so I am assuming they recovered from their knocks. Funny that Fabio won his first cap before Rafael, who has been playing much more regularly for United. Thats probably because Brazil has Maicon and Alves (2 of the best) at RB and has some average LBs.

My prefered lineup would be:

-----------Welbeck---------
Young------Rooney------Nani
------Anderson-Cleverley-----
Evra---Ferdinand-Vidic----Jones
-------------DdG--------------

Welbeck is the man in form and it would be stupid to bench him for that game. He scored 5 goals in 8 games. Hernandez has been invisible in most games. He's definitely still struggling to hit great form following the 2 injuries he had.

EDIT: Here's a goal Chicharito scored in the Mexico warm-up pre Mexico-Brazil game. :D

He pushed Baines, and he did so by not paying attention to the ball and purposefully going out of his way to do it. It's a foul, quite like if a player puts himself in another's path instead of chasing the ball, only this time Valencia did that as well as pushed him.

Haha, Marcelo and Adriano average?

Brazil tend to play with average LBs like Bastos or Andre Santos. Haven't seen much of Adriano. Marcelo is good and is first choice rightly so.

Its a controversial one. Anyway I posted that GIF just to show how good he is at using his strength to keep the ball.

Nah, it's just a foul. It's a bad example, because he's using his strength against the rules. Surely there's another one of him using it properly? He's managed to own some of the best LBs with his strength, there must be a gif of it somewhere.

Rooney won't play in the group stage of the EUROs. Hopefully he will feature less in Capello's friendlies and this will avoid unnecessary injuries and keep him fresh. There is a possibility Welbeck will take his place if he maintains the same form.

Baines had a hold of his arm, watch it again. either way who cares? its done a dusted.

cant wait for Saturday, i wanna crush king kenny's crown under an avalanche of goals :P but as always that is tempered by reality. this match is goning to be epic and i always love beating pool after having to suffer through their successes in my youth :D

Yeah he's obviously clinging & tugging onto his arm so Valencia brushes him off. But as mentioned done and dusted.

I second that... my mates used to rub me up the wrong way with there pro liverpool rants.

Man Utd:

-----------De Gea--------------
--------------------------------
Smalling--Ferdinand--Evans--Evra
-------------------------------
------------Jones--------------
---------Fletcher Park----------
Young--------------------Giggs
-----------Welbeck------------

Subs: Lindegaard, Anderson, Rooney, Hernandez, Carrick, Nani, Valencia.

WTF thats an odd team. Anderson, Rooney and Nani benched? Cleverley not playing :(. Fergie knows whats happening on the training ground though.
