Problem with these arabs is that losing half a bil wouldn't put a slightest dent in their pockets. It would in Roman's pocket. Hence he got more impatient and started tinkering with things. Should've bought United back when he was making the decision, Chelsea has been a real ****ty investment for him.

In terms of finances perhaps, but the way he's acted would have the same results for most clubs. Considering trophies, it's not been too bad. 3 PLs and a few domestic cups.

Having spent about 5% of his net worth, Chelsea is now pretty much back to where they were before he got them. When he was choosing between United and Chelsea, it was deemed that Chelsea would be the cheaper option to obtain a top team in England. He has now spent as much as United were worth at the time, got less trophies and a huge headache of an aging squad.

Not quite sure about that.... one rough half season doesnt take us back to perennial 6th placers, and we are still in the CL and FA cup and I think we will make the top four. I agree that all in all Roman should be slightly disappointed with the return on his investment, results wise - mainly because we have not yet won the CL he so desperately coverts. But I can tell you from personal experience of travelling abroad aswell as from the figures that he has greatly succeeded in raising the international profile of the club and the international fan base, so in terms of "return on investment" I think the club is considerably more valuable now than when he took over. The increase in value probably is not as great as the money he has pumped in, but it's not like all his cash has simply gone down the toilet.

No, you are absolutely right that he has raised the profile of the club and of coarse finally brought them the league. Prior to Roman, I always looked at Chelsea as a 4th-5th place team, this is where they are currently, although it would be unfair to say that Spurs and Arsenal are better then them that Chelsea can't finish 3rd.

The way I looked at things, he had 2 options, so even though he did great things for Chelsea, in terms of his own opportunity costs he should have done much better.

But I also get the impression he likes the idea of bringing a club forward - Manchester United are already the most well known, highly supported and valuable club brand in the world (sorry Real and Barca fans) and already had a fantastic trophy winning record and the assets to continue that record, whereas Chelsea were perennial underachievers, a bit of a niche team and not well known internationally. Thinking about it as an investor, taking a club like Chelsea to the top much be both more satisfying and more financially lucrative than simply keeping one like Man Utd there. I dont think he made the wrong decision buying Chelsea, I just think he has made some bad decisions as owner of Chelsea :p

Ha. It must be reasoning like that which make arabs buy teams like Leicester when Everton is available and on the market at a similar price.

I watched the second half and was pleased with the performance and result. We badly needed to jump back from the embarrassing Athletic performance.

Just watched the highlights and its only now that I find out we were playing against 10 for more than 70 minutes. I now understand why Wolves looked so shaky and vulnerable. Still good performance and result. We are now just 3 GD short of C*ty.

Wolves were idiots to sack Mick McCarthy - I know he's not that likeable, but he had them playing good football last season and they looked unlikely to go down this season whilst he was in charge. No-one good wanted to come, this interim guy is **** and I would now put money on Wolves to be relegated.

EDIT: Of all the questionable sacking of the last couple of seasons - Newcastle sacking Hughton, Blackburn sacking Allardyce, QPR sacking Warnock etc - this one is by far the dumbest.

That little Balotelli tantrum was so cute. And Mancini now said that he rests his hopes on Tevez, a man he said will never play for him ever again! At least they are more fun than that Mourinho-led ultra consistent snoozefest we had a few years back.

Haha. Yeah and this is why I think C*ty will never be successful in the long run. They have too many money minded trouble makers. They've got talent but absolutely no passion at all.
