At least once every 4 games or so like Lampard, Cesc, Silva, Nasri, Hamsik etc. Our midfielders score once every season and most assists come from the flanks.

Lampard is the only midfielder who scores 20 goals a season. 10 goals a season for a midfielder who starts every match is good, though. A midfielder's role isn't to score, though, it's just a nice bonus.

I'm referring to his Arsenal days.

Yes its just a bonus but a huge one. It relieves the pressure off the strikers. If your strikers are off-form or injured, you know the goals can come from somewhere else.

Look at United for example: If Rooney gets injured, we get screwed. Berbatov did the job last year though but he's too inconsistent i.e. scores 2 hattricks in a row then go 7-8 games without a goal.

Scholes is starting...

Lindegaard; Rafael, Evans, Ferdinand, Evra; Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Nani; Welbeck, Rooney.

Subs: De Gea, Fabio, Pogba, Park, Giggs, Berbatov, Hernandez

If De Gea doesn't start, I'd like to see Amos on the bench and De Gea playing for the reserves. Seriously! Playing against teams who can only smack high and long balls infront would do him good, lol.

Too bad De gea is sub again...

You seem the be the only one who thinks that he's actually an awesome GK. He's been a flop so far and he deserves to sit on the bench.

I agree that De Gea is great, I've liked him a lot since watching him live one time, but he's definitely not performing at the expected standard, and should therefor get benched.

I hope wo do a better job of acclimatising our foreign GK to the league.

Yeah.. good luck with that. I said the same thing about Diego when he was at Juve.

What he did to deserve Ranieri, Magath and now Simeone as coach? must have been the devil in another life but he's amazing.

You can't call him a "flop" yet considering his age. He's probably still very far from his peak. He showed glimpses of his talent at times but makes too many errors. He's simply not ready yet for first team action.

I watched only the 2nd half of the Bolton game and I think we played well. Finally there is some sort of balance in the team with every player playing in his natural position. No more Carrick or Valencia in defence. I think Rafael is still our best RB, better than Smalling or Jones.

The problem with De Gea is that he doesnt yet have the concentration requried to be a keeper at a top club like Man United. Like, he is unquestionably a great shot stopper and reflex player and he was great at At Mad because he was involved all the time, but at Man United he is encountering something he has never encountered before - long periods of dominance in the game where he may regularly go ten or fifteen minutes without being involved at all. He does not yet know how to concentrate and stay focused for that time, so that when the sudden breaks do come, he's not ready and makes mistakes.

But he is young and concentration can be taught. I have no doubt he will be a world class goalkeeper one day, though it may take a few years and it may not be at Man Utd.

I dont rate Lindegaard at all.

England is different than Spain. De Gea has to deal with a LOT of high crosses in the Premier League that don't exist in nearly as high numbers in La Liga. He isn't confident catching high balls at all, and is far too skinny and weak to get to them ahead of strikers.

When I played as a kid if a keeper came up for a cross against me I made sure he took a hit. Nothing illegal, but some really solid body to body contact that could knock him off his feet if he wasn't ready for it. I was always one of the tallest players at 6'ish and wanted my headers, and I did what I could to make sure the keeper wouldn't challenge me next time. Well, the point is that De Gea is probably about as strong right now as those keepers were in my U-16 league, but the players in the Prem are a lot older, stronger, and bigger bastards than anyone I would have played with.
