For one thing he doesn't help, this is getting really boring :

"I have a dream to play for Madrid. You also have dreams, no? Well, this is my dream," read it here. I don't know why does he say that he's gonna stay but then says something like this. If he's staying he he shouldn't be saying things like this!

EXACTLY!!! If he KNOWS that he WANTS to stay for another 2, 3 or 4 years, he shouldn't be such a **** and keep saying he DOESN'T KNOW what the future holds. He knows English well enough to just say that he wants to stay for X number of years....END!

He hasn't done that. Ferguson said that Real would not run roughshod over ManU....well, tell you what, Ronaldo is yanking them. Personally, I find it fun to watch the reactions of both parties(ManU/David Gill and Ronaldo) and follow this story....very soon(if not already the case) it will start to affect ManU fans......

Meanwhile, May 29 is the next meeting between Patrice Evra and ManU to work on his contract. Apparently other clubs are interested in Evra.

To me it sounds like Ronaldo is typical person that doesn't say anything with certainty because life is not certain. Maybe he doesn't want to look as stupid as Robben (who said he would NEVER chose Chelsea over United), INCASE, he does end up going to Madrid. He said that 2 years ago and nobody really had too many problems with it, but now that Ronaldo is the best in the world the papers are jumping at it as if there is something happening. And as a result everybody else gets irritated.

Sure it would have been better to come out and say "I have absolutely no plans of leaving in the next couple of years" to make the fans happy. But to me the fans could get over it themselves because all there irritation does is just gives more reason for the newspapers to write this. If nobody cared, like they didn't 2 years ago, then the media would have long moved on onto Messi leaving Barca or Chelsea's new manager or something. If people are sick of Ronaldo leaving, then STOP DAMN READING/BUYING THE DAMN NEWSPAPERS.

Ronaldo has benefited from playing at the best club in the world. He is surrounded by some of the best players in the world, one of the best managers of all time, who has coached him up from the immature child that he was when he got there, and a father-figure who just so happens to be of the same nationality as him and has allowed him to settle into the club and adjust to life in a new country very well. There is no such comfy landing for him when he is not playing for United. Inotherwords, he is what he is BECAUSE of the club that he plays for. I can't see him duplicating his ManU form with any other team.

The way I see it, the European Championships will reveal that he is only being considered as the best player in the world because of the players that he has around him, at ManU, who happen to be some of the best in the world.i.e. he is ONLY as good as his supporting cast makes him look. Without players of such quality(i.e. when he plays as part of any other team), he will look like nothing more than a good player. Only THEN will he realise how much he really owes to United.

Real are looking for the finished product.....even Ferguson admitted that this kid is still a work-in-progress.

He did really well in EURO 2004 and i guess not too bad in WC 2006 minus the diving. So we'll see how he does in EURO 2008 and if he really can perform without United teammates or not. He did do really well in qualifying campaign aswell you know.

Yes well, none of the players did "really well" in the qualifying campaign. And I have to agree that Ronaldo's not so good when playing in the NT because of the players around him, but a 60 or 70% Ronaldo at the moment is better than any other player at 100%, so we'll take that.

Thomas Heaton -> Cardiff City(Season Long Loan).....

That will help him to gain some much needed first team exposure......

That's a good move, I imagine Ben Foster will be the reserve team's keeper most of next season. Also I wonder if United will keep Fraizer Campbell at Hull next year, that would be excellent for him to get regular Premiership football.

As for Evra, he's obviously keen to sign and United will be crazy to let him go - I think now there's time (United were preparing for Moscow) the deal will be concluded swiftly. Patrice Evra is arguably the best left back in the world.

Apparently Sir Alex has revealed he's standing down in three years time. I wonder if they'll be grooming Carlos Quieroz till then to take over.

As for targets, Lahm has resigned for Bayern, looks like Dani Alves is off to Barca and my tip for United's front line would be Huntelaar or Berbatov.

Speaking of Real, if they want Ronaldo - then they could throw in Casillas and Sneijder and they might have a deal! :innocent_smile_1:

I think its time for Ben Foster to be transitioned into the number 1 goalkeeping spot. van der Sar will be retiring in 1 or 2 years and its important that Foster gets some games.

Yeah, I agree. I feel kinda bad for him, I was watching (yet another) interview of him last night on Fox Soccer Report and he sounded noticably annoyed that this is still getting talked about. "Look, I've already said there will be more news in two or three weeks. I just want to focus on the EUROs." Maybe I'm biased, but that combined with his post-champs league comments makes me think he's working on a new contract with united. Anyway, let the kid be and if there's news, he or other involved parties will let everyone know.

Exactly, how can you promise something with certainty in the football world we live in today. He probably knows that Ferguson is not gonna be here much longer and he is thinking about what kind of replacement will come in. Ferguson treated him really well and with Quieroz being like a father figure its obvious that he is enjoying his time at OT. But what if a totally different manager and assistant come in, you don't know what will happen. Maybe they will get along maybe not.

Well, Ferguson has said he can't see himself managing for more than 3 years at ManU. That would make it 25 yrs at Old Trafford or him. I wonder if you guys will bring Queiroz in or go looking for someone else...

As far as replacements, Bryan Robson, Roy Keane and Steve Bruce come to mind....if you guys plan on keeping it in the family.
