nice goal although some might say its a fluke.

fluke my arse. that ball was moving all over the place. at first iit was bending to the right. then all of a sudden it was bending left. there was zero spin on the ball. that replay is good for seening the ball movement, its missing too many frames.

I'd put it down as a fluke. I'm sure Ronaldo intended it for a top corner. Although, Niemi does move to his right before the ball is struck. Possibly indicating Ronaldo planned it down the middle.

Rolleyes & whine as much as you want.

It was a fluke, he is a not a good set piece taker and would the goalie not have done that one step (which was his mistake not fooled by Ronaldo) - it easily could have been saved since it went to the middle of the goal.
Ronaldo wanted as pointed out - to put the ball into the top corner.

That has nothing to do that he was one of the better players (of a very average performing Utd yesterday or scored a 2nd goal.

@garlei - thanks for the mommories - I didn't remember that Larry White aka Blanc scored in that game aswell

It really wasn't that good a free-kick. It was closer to the middle that sides. It was just very powerful, and from that far out, any keeper should save that.

I don't give a **** if it was a fluke or not, nor do I know much about freekicks but Jesus, a goal is a goal, I really don't understand why should one moan about the quality of a goal, especially if the goal is scored by the team you support.

Park scores a very lucky goal on a deflection, Saha scores a tap-in that really should have been called back for offside, Ruud misses a couple sitters, Ronaldo scores a clean long-range freekick and THAT'S the one some of you guys choose to whine over and tear apart (nevermind that it was for the very team you support)!?? wtf

I swear some of you are as fickle as my 3 year old niece

I agree shinji, and I'm ashamed of it. I've never seen a player so maligned by his own fans since Forlan was here. It's ******* ridiculous, I guess they prefer ****ty ass Kieran Richardson. Ronaldo is the best winger we have and the best player for his age in that position.

Pricks.

Help?

Ahem, Roberto Carlos?

I like it how all of you assume that Ronaldo was intending to hit the ball into top corner. Any base for that assumption? From what i saw, he made a run up and hit the ball straight and hard, because the wall was badly set-up. Niemi made the first step to the right towards the center only after he saw the ball curving there, but then the ball moved the other way. Now if some of you are so smart that you already know what Ronaldo intended to do, then tell me, how many players when shooting a freekick, shot it with their laces going for power and intend to hit the top corner? Or maybe they actually hit the ball with the inside of their foot and make a big curve when going for a top corner and go for accuracy and precision instead of power? Top corner my ass, who the hell even thought of that?

Shut up! Do you have any idea what you are talking about? From the view that was posted in this thread, you can see the ball originally moving to Niemi's right, bending around the wall. Niemi moves then, reading the ball as he should, but then it curves back the other way. It's not Niemi's fault, it was a good shot that would trick any keeper with good reflexes. A sluggish keeper might have saved that, just because he might not react to the initial curve, but 99 out of 100 times, when the ball starts moving like that, it's going to where Niemi was moving.

So much talk over a goal that was scored from your player:| Just be happy it went in. Nice freekick btw how the hell did that change directions three times before it went in!!! I like that one, looks like a snake moving or something like that.

some teams struggle to even score one goal, and you w*nkers are complaining about how one of ours went in. Get a f*cking grip.

is it consider as fluke if a not-good free kick taker score from free kick? this sounds like van nistelrooy score from a long range also consider as fluke. admit that he strike that well, with power, good technique, on target and finally he scored.

whether is the mistake by the keeper, at least he scored, we won and we are getting closer to secure the 2nd spot

Because the balls are crap and too lightweight. They are designed so that the kick taker and the GK have no idea where the ball will end up if you just punt it.Saying that it was still a goal and i too do not understand why people want to pick it to pieces.
Talk about Ruud being offside for Saha's goal if you must moan about something......very weird stuff in here....... :ewan:

True true but still nice to see those types of goals.

You have to excuse Seven8, he thinks Ronaldo is a menace to his idol Davy Becks. He is too young and impressionable, he will prolly understand one day, that they are two different players, with different characteristics. It wasn´t the first time Ronaldo scored a good freekick (he isn´t really an expert, but he has scored good goals from free kicks), he scored one against Slovakia for Portugal, which was extremely good and difficult. It´s obvious that he has a strong shot and with experience he will improve his aim. It´s a trend to bash him, so typical to hit him when he is down (which is perfectly understandable if a 20 year old goes through his father´s death and wrongful rape claims) what is more amusing is talking crap after he scored two goals and did his job helping the team in accomplishing their goals. I really don´t understand this animosity, he is one of the most valuable assets of Manchester United, you should support him not bash him at every opportunity (unless he deserves it). We Portuguese fans are very gratefull of having him in our side, him and Deco, are our most important players without any doubt. I just hope he mantains the same performances and impact both Nt and club wise.
