Ronaldo: Utd still in title race

Manchester United star winger Cristiano Ronaldo believes that the Lancashire side can still capture the Premiership title.

The Red Devils are nine points behind table leaders Chelsea and Arsenal after losing to Portsmouth 2-0 on Saturday.

The Portuguese international, however, remains optimistic.

He told Spanish sportspaper Marca: "No, there is still time to come back, I am confident in the team.

"The other day, against Arsenal, we gave a lesson in how to play under difficult circumstances and take the points.

"We can keep doing that, and I am confident we can reduce the gap little by little."

The 19-year-old commented on the players he enjoyed watching: "Here at Manchester we have (Ruud) van Nistelrooy who is a phenomenon both on the pitch as well as off it.

"When I sit down in front of the telly I try to enjoy others, like (Thierry) Henry, (Zinedine) Zidane, (Luis) Figo or Deco.

"I would also pick out Reyes, the Spaniard. I believe his football has been very positive for Arsenal and for English football in general.

"His speed is very noticeable, as well as his ability to play out wide or as a second striker."

The former Sporting Lisbon star also said that, while he was very happy with life in England, he would be open to a move to Spain's Primera Liga at some point.

"In the Premiership they give opportunities to youngsters that maybe in Spain or Italy they wouldn't get.

"Here we have the example of Cesc Fabregas, the Spaniard at Arsenal.

"He has a lot of talent, but have you seen how old he is? He is just 17, but Arsene Wenger has already given him his chance and little by little he is adapting.

"I'm not saying it (moving to Spain) won't happen one day. It's a possibility in the future, but I am very happy at Manchester right now.

"We will see what happens in the future, but one day why couldn't I play in the famous Spanish league?"

United get green light from Brown

Manchester United are putting together a revised financial package aimed at dissuading Wes Brown from leaving the club.
Brown is a free agent at the end of the season and has already rejected one contract offer, but United have been encouraged by declarations from the 25-year-old defender that he wants to stay at Old Trafford. Both sides are aiming to reach a compromise when Brown's advisers meet the club's chief executive David Gill tomorrow.

Newcastle are among a clutch of clubs hoping to benefit from the current impasse, and a bid from St James' Park is almost certain if Brown's future is still undecided when the transfer window opens in January.

Ideally, Brown would like to remain in his home city but expects a deal that puts him in the middle bracket of earners at Old Trafford. He is currently among the club's lowest-paid players and the directors have been reluctant to meet his financial requirements because of his susceptibility to injury.

Hope he sign the new deal soon before January. :)

What makes the spanish league so famous?
I've always been of the opinion that it's Italy that you want to end up in.

Madrid and Barcelona.

I think every player at some point dreams about playing at both of those clubs. Never underestimate the drawing power of both those clubs.;)

Barca is where good players go to underachieve.
That's all I can say about them. They've had some of the best players EVER but their trophy case is far from as full as it should be

Only now... and it's about time.

Barca's known for being underachievers. They're like Roma in that way.

I mean seriously, back when they had Rivaldo their lineup was the ****s, but they didn't win nearly what they should have.
