Demonstrate your love and commitment to the Club by owning a share or two or even as many as possible, Its not too late. Neither Malcolm Glazer, nor Cubic Expression(Magnier/McManus) have the resources to play sugar daddy, so don't think for a second that they would be able to plough money into the club, they are only in it for the financial gain and will bleed OUR football club dry until there is nothing left.

Good win against Dinamo Bucharest, and hopefully we can beat them by even more at OT

I read about United bidding for Darius Vassell? IMO we do not need anymore strikers, as in a month Ruud and Saha will be back and then we will be fighting fit again.

There is no real need for another striker. Scholes can play behind Smith and the problem is solved :)

Just curious, but do the transfers of people like Pique and Rossi really count as true "transfers"? these guys are in the youth system, not even in the reserves.

They're some really good coups, and I'm happy to have them, but they shouldn't be in the same list with the first team aquisitions I think.

And what if either Scholes or Smith were to get injured? Besides Kleberson, Scholes is our only truly creative central midfielder, and I don't think that playing with two holding midfielders suits our style of play. It's much better to have Scholes in midfield alongside Keano and playing two forwards IMO. Smith and Forlan are currently the only senior strikers available, so I think a bid for Rooney, Vassell or even Carlos Tevez(this last one is just a thought) would be good. Another option would be to loan a player until January as a stop-gap. There was talk of Morientes but it was probably another baseless rumour.

I think we need to save our money and stop buying players that are half-decent. Forlan, Kleberson, Djemba-Djemba, Bellion, they were all crap transfers. Sure they have shined at their times. We wouldnt have beaten Liverpool if Forlan hadnt scored those two goals, but why do United keep going in the wrong direction? Ruud, Howard, Ronaldo, Saha and Smith have been great transfers, and we need more like these. While we buy semi-good players, Arsenal buy players like van Persie and Chelsea just buy buy buy quality.

I am very very very excited about the new season though. Its gonna be a great game against Chelsea and i am counting on Smith to do us all proud :)

Smith a great transfer? He's hardly proved anything as of yet..

Maybe you havent seen it, but i can. He was good in what we saw of him in the USA, and then his goal was great in the loss to Arsenal. He is playing better now and the scene is right for him to step up and show us what he is made of. If he realises how much of an impact these next few weeks could have on his career, and he uses it to his advantage, we might have a great striker at our club :)

Which is why I'd be in favour of any move for Rooney. He seems to have a great future and for the right price, could be a good investment not just for the present season, but for a few seasons to come. If we were to get a new striker it would hasten the exit of the sub-par players like Forlan(great guy, but not good enough for the club). I do disagree with your statement about Djemba-Djemba and Kleberson though. Given enough time, I think they could be great signings, especially Djemba-Djemba, who I thought played well against Arsenal. Neither Djemba-Djemba nor Kleberson got enough games last season so it's probably a little early to judge them.

Forlan wasn't entirely a crap transfer. At times when we had nobody else, he was able to come through in the clutch. Sadly though, he missed all his easy chances. But having Forlan has proved to be a necessity with the injury prone Ole and Ruud on our side.

As for Kleberson, he's been injured too much to tell.
Djemba was a great buy for the price, and he only seems to be improving.

And as for Bellion. Just give this guy a chance.

If you can already count Smith as a positive form how he did on the USA tour, then Bellion should be counted as a success as well.

He was incredible in his first appearance for United during the USA tour last year. Some great runs a goal and an assist I think. Anyone else remember? Seeing how Bellion played in that one game has biased me completely towards him. (someone want to back me up here?)

Forlan aint a crappy player, he just dont seeme to fit the playingstyle! If we buy a worldclass player it could be he dont fit in!you never now.you see beckham,he is not the player in Madrid that we remember him as in United!
I am sure Forlan would do good in another club!

Smith delight at United win

Manchester United striker Alan Smith revealed the team's delight at gaining a 2-1 victory over Dinamo Bucharest in their UEFA Champions League third round qualifier.

The former Leeds United man was forced to lead the line on his own, with a number of first-team regulars unavailable due to injury, suspension and Olympic Games duty.

Things started badly for United fell behind when Quinton Fortune turned the ball into his own net after 10 minutes, but The Red Devils showed superb character to claw their way back into the contest.

Smith came close to getting on the score sheet in the second half, however his effort struck the post while he almost came close to being sent-off for a number of rash tackles.

"We've got a positive result," said Smith to ITV2. "They started brightly, but we found our rhythm and started to play some good stuff - and could have got more goals.

"I was a bit unfortunate, but we're happy going back to Old Trafford with a 2-1 victory.

"We can't underestimate them in the second leg. But the lads stuck together, and it's a good win for us."

Fergie points to experience

Sir Alex Ferguson has heaped praise on his Manchester United squad for the spirit they showed against Dinamo Bucharest on Wednesday.

The Red Devils travelled to Romania for their UEFA Champions League qualifier with a depleted squad and things looked grim when Quinton Fortune turned the ball into his own net on eight minutes.

However, Ferguson's under-strength side dug deep and secured victory when an own goal added to an earlier Ryan Giggs effort.

The home leg at Old Trafford should be plain sailing with two away goals in the bag and Ferguson feels the victory in Bucharest was deserved.

"You have to be pleased when you win away in Europe," said the wily Scot. "After a bad start, it was very pleasing to recover and go on and win the game.

"I was pleased with our positive performance, it gives us a great opportunity for the second leg at Old Trafford."

Ferguson claims his senior players drew on their vast European experience after slipping behind.

"I just thought it was about experience and Roy's (Keane) contribution was tremendous," added Ferguson. "He always has a great influence on the players around him.

"The last thing you want to do is concede an early goal like we did. At that point, I had to rely on the experience of my team.

"We have been through this sort of thing before and it's important not to panic."

I was impressed with both Alan Smith yesterday and Liam Miller. Although Miller was only on for a short period, he made an immediate impact. To say we got him for free, wat a great acquisition, he was also impressive for Celtic last year in the champions league, scored a couple of great goals. Altho he might be a little defensive like Keane, he does the "Scholes" thing and gets into goal scoring positions, i think hes gonna be a great asset for years to come.
