We didnt really need Rooney, but that doesnt matter. Now we have four quality strikers that we can play around with.

My starting XI would be:

-----------------Howard-------------------
G.Neville----Rio-----Spector----Heinze
------------------Keane--------------------
Ronaldo-----------------------------Giggs
---------------- Scholes-------------------
-----------Ruud-------Smith------------

Subs: Carrol, Silvestre, Neville, Fletcher, Kleberson, Rooney, Saha

Take Silvestre out, he is playing like ****. Throw Spector into the deep end by making him play week in, week out. Rotate the Smith/Saha/Rooney every game or two, depending on how they train and play. Every game change both strikers on the 70 minute mark. :)

i prefer heinze take center and spector on left. may be return of brown can partner rio at center

if scholes not performing, we might sub saha or rooney, player smith behind 2 strikers. smith more aggresive to win the ball, play behind 2 strikers, i think it will just fine

if scholes not perform:

--------smith-----------------
ruud-----------saha/rooney

I can only think of this guys for the CB, RB, LB and AM position that would possibly join ur club(considering the price and the actual club)..Coloccini or Mexes, Miguel, Dedé, and Riquelme or Rosicky...

Our board will not allow to spend that much again after the purchase of Rooney. There a limit to our transfer budget.

We got enough cover in defence already, maybe just buy a long-term replacement for Gary Neville.

i reckon next summer we need to add a winger, either backup or successor to giggs, and obviously a good solid CM.

who can be the long-term replacement for g.neville?

certainly yes, seeing giggs and scholes performance are dropping. we certainly need to add a young, talented winger and playmaker midfield like scholes if we don't have enough transfer budget. or else, we can look for some class winger and CM

No, but according to the FA, the ban for missing a test > the ban for actually failing a test.

Rio provided a hair follicle sample to prove that he wasn't on drugs.

Hair Follicle doesn't detect steriods or performance enhancing drugs, just recreational ones.
Anyway he was lucky to get only 8 months, in Atheletics it'd be 2 years or life.

FIFA hadn't signed the WADA agreement at the time. Besides, Davids and Frank de Boer got 4 months for taking banned substances(I think it was nandrolone). So from that point of view, Ferdinand was unlucky. I don't disagree with the ban, but 8 months is too much when you consider the lenient penalties imposed in the recent past.

"the reason they say it is because the engine room that fired United to the Champions League in 1999 is not what it was"

this true. the article have true mostly, cause our midfield now is no more 3 or 4 years ago. keane, giggs, scholes performance are dropping while beckham was depart. rooney may not a wrong investment but certainly we need to inject some new and class midfield. kleberson, djemba, fletcher, miller still need lots time to develope into a class player but ronaldo after a season, from one trick pony become a more mature, tactical football player. this is we hardly see from them within 1 or 2 seasons

after the investment on rooney. we can't expect any new player in this season and we only can hope that our team fit like previous time. with all the injury are gone, banned is return and also scholes, giggs, ronaldo, kleberson, keane giving enough support and delivery to let ruud, smith, rooney, saha firing as many as they can.

no more draw and lose now. we need win, a lot of wins........

It's only a matter of time before Scholes is back to his best. He has played the most of the last couple of years in the hole behind the forward, and is readjusting to his old position.

Kleberson had a good Copa America and is starting to show some of that form for Manchester United. Again, it's only a matter of time before he starts to play really well. He is one player who I felt was unfairly criticised last season, as he hardly played any games for us. I think he's a brilliant signing and will prove it in the coming months, provided he stays clear of injury.

Djemba-Djemba is strong defensively, though he seems to be having trouble coming to terms with the pace of the Premiership. His performances have been improving, though, and hopefully he can be more than a bit-part player for us in the future.

Fletcher needs to improve his ball control and dribbling. His vision for the pass is terrific, and his passing itself is pretty decent. He just needs to get stronger and more comfortable on the ball.

I haven't seen enough of Miller to comment, though I can say he looks a bit lightweight, and that's fine. A few months in the gym should sort that bit out.

Fergie's Rooney revelations

Wayne Rooney has been officially unveiled as a Manchester United player during a press conference at Old Trafford.

The England striker sat alongside Sir Alex Ferguson and David Gill in front of the media as the United manager declared his delight at snaring the Everton attacker.

Ferguson revealed that the deal would not have happened had Newcastle United not made their approach for the teenager, and confessed that he has wanted to sign the player since hearing of Rooney as a 14-year-old.

"He's 18 and could spend all his years as a professional at this club," said Ferguson. "Age-wise, it's a great signing but it's more than that.

"The potential he's shown, well I knew that years ago anyway, but the last two years has been phenomenal.

"I think it was a case that Manchester United could not afford to miss out on him.

"We're not exactly sure about his injury. He goes for another scan tomorrow and hopefully it'll be much clearer then. He's not far away - only two to three weeks. Hopefully he'll be doing some running, he did some training this morning, but we'll be better placed tomorrow.

"I think we've got a good reputation with players here. They are professionals and we look after them well. I don't see (handling Rooney) as a problem.

"It was some years ago when he played against our youth team that I got a call from our staff saying they'd seen a player and I should do something about it. But he didn't want to leave Everton and was too young anyway, but we showed interest even then, at 14.

"It's not been easy for the lad. I can understand the emotions from Everton. Quite rightly, they regard themselves as a big club. I do too, they are a great club with fantastic fans but Wayne rightly pointed out the opportunity to play European football and Everton, at the moment, don't do that.

"We also feel at this club we have big ambitions to do really well, all the time.

"It's a strange twist of fate. If Newcastle hadn't come in, probably he'd still be at Everton and wouldn't be here. Once we knew Everton were talking to another club, we had to do something.

"I didn't think he was available because I spoke to David Moyes at the end of the season and thought he wasn't for sale.

"I can see him playing in several positions. He is a total footballer. He can play anywhere - in midfield or anywhere up front. Perhaps we won't put him in the back four!"

now that we have Rooney,we have a fearful attack in ruud, smith, saha and rooney

maybe Fergie wants the champions league very badly.

even if this season we don't win the epl or anything,i have no complaints.
considering, our class players are now somewhat old.
keane,giggs,scholes,gary
the new players need to blend in.
for another club it would be very difficult to blend a team.for Manchester United,it has been all about blending youth and experience together.
Arsenal have their class players in the age-group of 24-27

so their days may be over within 3-4 seasons unless Arsene keeps these precious talents he has up to the mark

as for us,i'll be pleased to be patient and wait for united to emerge again as the dominant force.
cheers

Ruud hails 'frightening' Rooney

Ruud van Nistelrooy is excited at the prospect of forming a new Manchester United strike partnership with Wayne Rooney.
The 18-year-old England star completed his move to Old Trafford last night in a deal which could ultimately be worth £27million to his former club Everton.

Van Nistelrooy, yet to feature for the Red Devils this season because of a hernia problem, cannot wait to play alongside such an 'incredible player' as Rooney.

'Everyone knows Wayne is an amazing talent and the thought of him pulling on a United shirt is frightening,' he told the Daily Mirror.

'He proved himself at Euro 2004 and I don't know many clubs who wouldn't mind him in their side.

'He is an incredible player who has a huge future ahead of him.

'To do what he has already done at just 18 years old is incredible.

'Anyone who has seen him play knows what a talent he is. It really excites me to think he will be playing at United. He will be a great asset to the club and to play with him will be fantastic.'

Come on now, u should no better than that, was that an attempt at saying arsenal will be no threat soo enough, or is it just blind optimism.
Dont worry there are big players dotted all over arsenals squad
