Yeah, didn't think about him, but I think that van Bommel's contract expires after this season and that he will go for free. I think Barcelona have been after him for a while.

If im not mistaken, VanBommel was all but signed at Barca, and then he retracted the story. It would be a coup for ManU to get him in the event that you afford Essien's price tag

Watcha rekon to Cudicini to solve our GK problem

Hes true blue and as I recall he has said he wouldnt want to go off to another English Club. Plus, I doubt Chelsea would ever sell him to you. My guess is the guy will be starting somewhere in Italy next season

I think many of you are giving up on Rio waaay to early, as Phil says. The whole thing is probably a load of Rubert Murdoch stool, and in any event, Chelsea wont be paying 40 million pouds to strengthen their strongest position.

Man Utd fans plz ask yourself.....why would a great player move to Old Trafford?

an old manager who'll retire soon.... A team on the decline and an aging backbone of a team....

I wouldn't be surprised if rio and RVN leave

Why aren't you using your youth players? Shouldn't you give your world class youth system a run out since your senior players have no heart? Why don't you unleash Pique, Rossi, the Next Vieira, Spector and DONG FANGZHOU into the Premiership next season instead of trying to buy yourselves replacements?

The Red Devil
We would love to see the likes Jones, Pique, Rossi, Ngalula given a run out, I don't know why Ferguson doesn't bother, it wouldn't hurt having them on the bench instead of sh¡te like Liam Miller, Bellend or Pleberson for the remainder of this season though. As for "world class youth system" - well it was before Howard Wilkinson f*cked with it and introduced the acadamies, now we can only sign kids who live within 90 minutes of the club, or look abroad.

Disrupting stories concerning Ferdinand again.

Usually I'm not too worried by this ****, but having your agent say stuff like this is usually a tactic to demand astronomical wages or force a way out of the club...

I am sick of Rio's agent mouthing to the press now. This guy is an absolute asshole. :nape:

Since like after he got our backing and 8 months worth of wages, and now he and his agent don't give a damn anymore. All forgotten. Nice. I guess it's too much to ask of a footballer to rush and sign a new contract no matter what the circumstances.

Fernandez

Team Captain
Manchester United chief Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly made Sevilla starlet Sergio Ramos his prime transfer target for the summer.

The wonderfully talented defender, who plays at full back, has already come under the gaze of United, Arsenal and Real Madrid this season.

However, it is now being claimed that having watched him again in recent weeks - Ferguson has told the club's directors that he wants Ramos at 'any cost'.

Ramos is already a full international and like with Jose Antonio Reyes - Sevilla know that they may struggle to keep hold of one of Europe's most highly rated youngsters, although they did increase his release clause to £18 million in January.

The 18-year-old has been watched by Martin Ferguson, United's chief scout and brother of Sir Alex, a number times over the past few weeks and glowing references from him seem to have urged The Red Devils to make a move sooner rather than later.

Ramos has always stated his desire to remain with Sevilla, but it seems increasingly likely he could be on the move.

Martin Ferguson has been very busy in Spain over recent months and has already highlighted a number of possible summer signings for the Old Trafford giants.

He has filed favourable reports on the likes of Villarreal's Jose Reina, Ivan De La Pena of Espanyol, and Racing Santander winger Mario Regueiro.

Away from Ramos and the others, another Racing player has also come to Ferguson's attention in the shape of Anderson Silva.

The 23-year-old is a defensive midfielder and like De La Pena and Michael Essien, is believed to be considered as a possible long-term replacement for United skipper Roy Keane.

United's interest in Silva is even believed to have reached the point of contact between Martin Ferguson and the player's agent.

However, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are all aware of the South American's capabilities and are unlikely to allow United a straight forward path to his signature.

United chief executive David Gill has already insisted the club have spent this summer's transfer budget following the near £30 million paid for Wayne Rooney last August.

However, Ferguson knows he can raise money from sales of other players with a host of United's current squad sweating over their futures - including the likes of Alan Smith, Kleberson, David Bellion, Darren Fletcher, Quinton Fortune and Phil Neville.

Gill did state that money has been set aside for a new goalkeeper, with Roy Carroll looking set to depart on a free transfer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm never too confident about Martin's scouting. As for Ferdinand, if there is a 50 million offer for him, I'd gladly accept it. No one can hold Manchester United hostage. Fergie should strip him of vice-captaincy.

the irish duo wont sell for 3 pounds a share. at the moment each shares market value is 2.75, they will make more than 25p a share if they hold on to them. aint gonna happen unless glazer ups his bid. as long as utd are profitable, and they still are, even though the profits are down 50%(mainly due to rooney purchase). utd is still making more money than the majority of our rivals. i dont see magnier and co sell at 3 pounds a share. but thats not to say the board wont accept the offer, but the bid wont be successful unless those 2 sell their 29.whatever% stake in the club.
