Help?

If we can retake the top spot by the start of January, then we'll definietly be the favourites to win it. I don't think the African Nations Cup will do much damage to Chelsea. They won all their games last time during that cup. Only Drogba, Kalou, Essien and Mikel will be missing. Chelsea has good enough cover for them.

Awesome play by Obertan for Owen's 2nd btw. Are any of our missing defenders going to comeback for Villa? We got 2 defense backlines injuried, i don't remember the last time it was so bad.

We got Villa... and one of the worst injury streaks ever and Chelsea Have Everton. Everton haven't been doing to great... but they should be up there. Perhaps they will raise there game and get us a Draw.

Really not looking forward to Villa. I hope our defence is looking better else we may be punished.

Obertan did look really good not that Nani looked bad but I think Obertan is edging out front.

I felt Nani's lack of confidence has seriously affected his game. Obertan however looks better each time I see him, he also seems to look for the best option as well, his flash and dash nearly always leads to an end product.

Michael Owen played really well, and hopefully now will carry on this form if given a run in the side.

Good performance, Vida's back for Villa and apparently Carrick is set to remain in the back four, Evra goes back to the left and Fletch continues on the right. In TV commentary they mentioned Owen Hargreaves is about two weeks away.

great effort by the lads. To be honest, i didnt see that coming. Owen finally puts away his chances and i am happy for him. He has been pretty woeful in front of goal recently and that would have definitely lifted his confidence. Nani is lacking in confidence poor lad but at least an assist for him.Hopefully he will get a few more games.

That's good news especially if we continue with injury problems at the back. I think he's played the few games in defence. There again would you want someone who's been out for so long in such a position of importance. Not to mention the difficulty of being out of position with lack of games.

Playing him in defence is not a good idea considering he's back from injury. But he could help by playing his usual defensive midfield sitting in front of the defence stopping any attacks before they even reach our defensive line. But by the time he's back, I'm sure we'll have some defenders back already. Vidic is expected to return before the Villa game. Brown and Fabio are expected back within 1-2 weeks. Evans and O'Shea are both out for 1 month.

Well you have to remember that Hargro will not be able to sustain 90 minutes straight off, but certainly having him back would provide options because he can play RB quite comfortably in addition to DM.

Going back to last night, although he played well I was a little dissapointed Anderson didn't revel in his more advanced role. I was hoping that he might break into his bag of tricks and get forward as he did for Porto, I think perhaps he's lost that style of play - which makes him a very good central midfielder but at the cost of the "little Ronaldinho" we perhaps were expecting when he came.

The stories about Sol Campbell as a short term fix are intriguing, if he can play at something like his maximum, he could do a job for us - there really is little point in buying another defender as in the normal scheme of things we will be very strong. Campbell could perhaps do in defence what Larsson did up front.

Not sure about Campbell. He could sign straight away since he's not attached to any clubs. But Vidic is back this weekend already and Brown will probably be back next weekend so I don't see the point.

Is there really any harm in signing him though? He would cost next to nothing, I imagine. If he is fit and playing well he could be an asset.

Our defense is obviously very injury prone and there is no risk in signing him, might as well do it. Look at what Owen has done, that was basically the same situation. For the amount of money we put into him (ie, nothing) Owen is definitely paying off...maybe Campbell would too.

Yeah... cambell would be a good buy... i think he's a free agent too? Bags of experience... if anything he could pass on that to some of our younger players.

Makes you wonder why we got rid of Silvestre at times like these.

i heard, that id capbell does sign it will have to be in the jan transfer window since he was signed with a club at the close of the last transfer window. the source wasnt certain of that though.

I read that also. In January we'll have some defenders (Brown and possibly Ferdinand) back already, so if Campbell comes, he will most probably sit on the bench as a cover. Could help in the short term.

There goes that rumour :D Next... Apparently Madrid want to get rid of Benzema in January before he devalues any more.

Probably as solid as the last rumour.

United’ form is really great at the moment. All players and reserves play their best … am happy to see the hat trick from Owen … Gibson and the ugly boy, Oberton, play really well now … Hopefully we will catch Chelsea before Christmas.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has denied reports of out-of-favour goalkeeper Ben Foster leaving Old Trafford in January.

The 26-year-old started the season as the club's number one but is now behind Edwin van der Sar and Tomasz Kuszczak.

Foster is still in the England frame, however, and claimed his club situation was "disheartening" after playing in the defeat against Brazil last weekend.

But Ferguson said: "He is definitely staying. He will be a terrific keeper."

After playing his second consecutive game for England in Qatar, Foster expressed frustration with his predicament, pointing out that while he was playing regularly for his country he had dropped out of the reckoning at Old Trafford.

That led to reports that Foster could move away from United in the January transfer window in order to earn a place in England manager Fabio Capello's World Cup squad, with a loan move the most likely.

Foster made his name during two separate loan moves to Watford - but his manager insists there is no chance of another switch in the New Year.

"He has had a couple of bad mistakes in games but his performance level has been very good," added Ferguson.

"Ben is a strong lad. Without doubt he is England's best goalkeeper. Without question he has the best presence and he is the quickest. He is also very brave.

"But for a lad of 26 he has not had much game experience. That is the negative part for him and that is where maybe it will cost him his England position at the moment.

"However, I am not protecting the lad because he is my goalkeeper but when I look at the abilities of the goalkeepers in the league who are English, I don't think they are as good as Ben Foster. It is as simple as that."

Looks like fosters still in the good graces
